I'm sure everybody will agree with me when I say that Harry Potter was the first fandom.
Before HP, people liked a book or movie and moved on with their lives. However, JK Rowling wrote such an immersive, detailed and one of a kind series that we couldn't help but obsess.
She relates things that happened in the first book to the ending of the last. Example: Nagini escaping in book 1 and then being one of the horcruxes in the final book. It's this kind of detail that always keeps people coming back for more. The Harry Potter series is definitely timeless, thanks to JK Rowling, the founder of fandoms.
