FLASHBACK - 10 YEARS AGO

Lloyds POV:

"Hey Pipsqueak, do you think we'll still be friends in the future?" Y/n's voice cut through the silence suddenly. I roll my eyes at hearing the nickname she used. She knows I hate it.

We were both sat on the roof of Darkleys. It was my favourite place to go and zone out, to not think about anything. All my worries seem to disappear when I'm up here; my parents, my friends, me.

No one knows this spot exists, or that I sometimes hide away up here.

Except her.

She's the only one. I'm not sure why. I mean we haven't known each other long. It's only been a few months, but I feel like she knows me better than anyone else in this shitty school. I feel like I can talk to her about anything.

"Duh. Idiot" I mumbled and puffed out my chest. I couldn't look her way, so I just focused on the stars above us.

I thought that would put an end to that topic. The future, but her next words proved me wrong.

"But what if we get separated or something happened and you forget about me"

Her voice was barely above a whisper. It caught me off guard, I've never heard her so vulnerable. No insults, punching or tricks. It made my chest ache. Seeing her upset was the worst feeling in the world. When she's with me she should never be upset. I promised myself to keep it this way.

I took something out the pocket of my cloak and grabbed her hands. I gently placed it in her hands and pushed her hands back towards her. She looked down at my gift and her eyes widen. It was a deep green dragon pendant. I made it for her a few weeks ago.

I could suddenly hear her heartbeat quicken and noticed her face was slightly pink, I looked away embarrassed. I opened my mouth and whispered;

"I'd never forget you"

PRESENT DAY

Y/n's POV:

"So what's your name?"

His bright green eyes look into mine with interest, like I was a puzzle he was trying to solve. His gaze was soft and reassuring. It was weird coming from him.

We were both sat under a tree in the school grounds. His geek squad weren't too far away, watching us from a distance. None of their gazes leaving me, as if one blink meant I'd stab Lloyd. They were all quite protective over him.

"Y/n L/n." I looked into his electric green eyes, as I held onto what little hope I had left that he would remember me. I just wanted a sign that he could still remember anything of our time together.

A gentle smile grew on his face at my answer, as he tilted his head. "And why did you ask to meet here?"

I visibly deflated a little. I shouldn't have been surprised he didn't remember me.

It was my fault after all.

I could tell he was still slightly on guard even if he was smiling. He was always untrusting of new people and their real motives.
