Chapter 8

LLOYD'S POV:

"I can't leave you to do all the work yourself, that's unfair to you."

"I don't mind. That's why I'm offering. Now lie down."

I move myself over to make room for Y/n to lie down next to me. She crawls over and places her head just short of my pillow and lies down on her side facing my side.

She looked breath-taking.

She always did.

Her h/c hair falls slightly over her face as she releases a big sigh, relaxing her whole body. I could hear her faint breathing slow along with her heartbeat, she must already be asleep.

"I wish I'd met you sooner." I whisper as I move my hand to brush the strand of hair out of her face and tuck it behind her ear. My hand doesn't leave her face. Her skin is soft and I craved the warmth of her touch. "How have you become so important to me in such a short amount of time?"

I can't take my eyes off her.

But when I look at her I feel like I'm missing something.

The constant vibration of my phone on the other side of me forces my attention away from Y/n. It was an incoming voice call from Kai. Pressing the answer button, I hold the phone up to my ear, my other hand is still preoccupied playing and running through Y/n's hair.

Carefully of course, the last thing I'd want to do is accidentally wake her up.

She really needed to rest.

"What's up Kai?"

"Dude, where are you at?? You, Nya and I are supposed to be starting patrol soon."

Crap. I had completely forgotten about patrolling the city tonight. I look back at Y/n watching her chest rise and fall softly. I can't leave her here, not that that was ever an option.

How does she keep doing this? She can so easily make me forget everything.

"Uhhh Sorry Kai but.. I'm not going to make it to patrol until later tonight."

I probably should have thought that sentence through a little as all hell broke loose on the other end of the call.

Kai's volume screeches through my head and my hand instinctively pulls my phone away from my ear.

"WHAT!! LLOYD YOU CAN'T GET OUT OF PATRO-"

The slight stir of the sleeping girl next to me made me cut off Kai from his screeching rage.

"Kai shut up!" I hiss in a whisper. "You'll wake her up!"

My eyes scan over Y/n again to ensure that Kai's loud whining didn't force her awake. She still looked as relaxed as before and her breathing was still slow. I release a breath I didn't even realise I had been holding knowing she was still asleep.

"Huh!! Her?? Who?? Are you with Harumi?"

"No, Y/n. She's currently asleep and she's been exhausted all day, she really needs this. So please be quieter!" My voice became a raised whisper. I am practically begging Kai at this point trying my best to get my point across.

"Y/n?? That chick from before?? She's at your house!! Is that really a good idea?"

"It's fine Kai. I invited her over so we could finish some work together."
