Chapter 12

Y/N's POV

Nya:

Hey!!

It's Lloyd's birthday today!

We're all planning to meet up by the school gates to head to Chen's Noodle House after school

You're coming too!

OH!! And don't tell Lloyd it's a surprise!!

My phone vibrates at the influx of messages. Why is it that people are always texting me while I'm in a lesson? I'm not complaining (yes I am) as I'm currently not paying attention (again) but it's a little inconvenient.

I turn on my phone and I notice Nya's name. She's been sending me little messages ever since we swapped numbers. It was nice. I've never had a "girl friend" before and Nya was a lot sweeter than she appeared to be.

If I had to be honest her appearance gave me the impression that she was a rule breaking thug, with her leather jacket and everything, but in reality she was incredibly sweet.

Since talking with her I've come to learn that she is in fact dating Jay Walker and they were one of the cutest couples I have ever met.

Sickeningly sweet if you ask me.

Nya likes to ramble about him a lot and once she starts sometimes it takes a while before she realises how long she's actually been rambling for.

I read over her messages. I of course already knew it was Lloyd's birthday today and because of that my cake that the Green Ninja and I made was currently sitting in a protective box in my bag.

My mind often wanders back to last night. How Greenie and I spent most of the night talking and baking together. How close he was to me. I wonder how many girls can claim that they've baked with the Green Ninja.

Maybe he breaks into a lot of girls' houses. That thought alone makes my stomach drop what feels like six feet and an overwhelming nauseating feeling takes over. Why am I feeling like this? I don't know a single thing about him. He can break into whoevers house he so desires.

I have no control over his actions.. but why does that thought hurt so much.

Focussing back on the messages from Nya, I write back a reply.

Sounds like fun!

A little dry on my end but I always was an awkward texter. The 'read' check marks pop up indicating that Nya has received and looked at my messages.

A big warm smile takes over my face at the thought of actually being able to celebrate Lloyd's birthday this year. With him. I honestly can't wait!

I heard that Nya bought him the newest addition of Starfarer, which he's been raving about for months apparently. He really was a massive geek.

I roll my eyes playfully as I place my phone back into my pocket and pick up my pen to continue writing my notes. As much as I thought this class was boring and utterly pointless in the future, a failing grade was not something I was aiming to come home with.

My parents were trouble enough without fueling the fire with a failing grade. They'd never let me out of the house if I came back home with anything below a B.

After the class is over I assemble all my things carefully into my bag and throw it carelessly over my shoulder. I didn't even make it out of the classroom before I'm met with a pair of familiar grey and blue eyes and black ponytail.
