Chapter 10

¤ Veronica ¤

Before she could even leave the room, she heard a knock on the door. Veronica sighed. ' Who is it now?'

She opens the door and one of the captain's men is standing outside looking at her as she is some kind of alien. ' What was his name again? Sam? Simon... no it was Scott.'

She raises one of her eyebrows, standing quietly still and waiting for him to start speaking. He kept looking at her quietly.

'' Are you going to speak? Or did you just come here to stare at me? Was it not enough with the cameras? Do you have to be in the same room now?''

She saw how his face and neck got red, looking at the floor instead of looking at her.

After a few seconds he looked up, cleared his voice and made sure that she couldn't read his facial expression anymore.

'' Majesties are waiting for you in the throne room. They have some news to tell you.''

'' I will just change my clothes.'' Veronica closed the door without letting him have the time to say something.

' They found a really good time to tell some news! What could it be about? Now I will have to wait until four o'clock in the morning to have the chance of going to the city.' Veronica sighs. ' Another sleepless night.'

As fast as she could she took on a simple black dress, with black heels and for her hair she took it up in a bun. This is what she could do fast for the little time she had.

Veronica leaves the room and lets Scott lead her to the throne room. The walls are all white and the floors are with black marble. The chandeliers are lit and make the black marble look all glitter, like small white stars are on the floor, looking at them.

Their shadows on the wall gives her an unknown feeling. It's like someone is watching her, following her but at the same time not. ' Something is wrong. Why am I getting a feeling like something will happen and whatever that is will be bad?'

Veronica has that feeling all the way to the throne room. The big doors are open, a big pattern of fire on each of the doors. Making her feel like she is getting closer to the fire that could burn her. Just as she took the first step in the throne room, the air got cold, making her shiver.

The throne room was not what she had imagined it to be. The walls are white with decorations of gold. At first glance the decorations look like diamonds but if you stop and look more closely you could see different patterns. Patterns of different signs that she had never seen before.

The floor is like the rest of the castle all black marble. The throne that the king is sitting on makes her shiver. It is all black looking like black stone, bigger than the king sitting on it. It even has three small towers that look like the devil's horns.

The picture in front of her shows a powerful king like the devil that has the devil on his side with his throne, money, blood, power and more. The queen's throne is smaller, looking exactly as the king's but somehow looking smaller. The queen's face shows nothing of her feelings, nothing to give Veronica a clue what this meeting is about. She's only sitting still and looking empty in front of them. Like she wasn't even seeing them.The king looks at her intensely as if he can hear her thoughts.

The prince comes and stands beside her. He gives her a small smile before he turns his attention back to the king with a neutral expression on his face. Veronica bows to the king and queen while she feels her heartbeat beating faster as the quiet seconds go by..

The king clears his throat. '' I have some news. Princess Elise from Zhena will come here and stay with us for a few months. The princess apparently wants to visit all the different kingdoms, to have some adventure apparently!'' The king makes a face, like he is disgusted by the thought.
