Thomas' POV:
I explode into wakefulness, gasping and reaching for air. Looking around me, I realize I must have drifted off to sleep while reading the book Lydia gave me. Well, it wasn't a peaceful afternoon nap. I had a nightmare where I was running away from piercing screams but they followed me everywhere I went. Not knowing what the dream meant, I decided to google it. The only thing that came up was anxiety and fear of the unknown. Baffled, I put these thoughts at the back of my mind for now. I had more serious things to deal with. Lydia.
I couldn't help but think about what had happened between us last night. I shouldn't have acted that way. I almost kissed her. What if she's freaked out by me now? We haven't talk since then, I should really explain myself to her. Though I'll have to wait until she gets home. She has been missing all day.
While awaiting her arrival, I take my phone and earbuds and listen to Green Day while continuing the book I had been reading, 'If I Stay'. About half an hour passed when I heard the familiar click of the front door unlocking. I feel beads of sweat forming on my forehead realizing that Lydia has returned home and it was the time to explain my inappropriate behavior towards her. I really do feel something for her, but I doubt she feels the same way. I'd rather just be friends with her than avoid her forever. The footsteps get closer. Tap. Tap. Tap. Each footstep I hear is like a gun being triggered. I am so unbelievably nervous to even see her, so I feel a wave of relief hit me when Dylan walks threw the door of the room we're sharing.
"Oh, thank Goodness it's only you." I let out a lengthy sigh of relief.
He puts his things on his bed, without saying a word. His tense posture reveals that he is definitely ticked off about something. I decide to ignore it but he turns to face me, nostrils flared and eyes dilated. I give him a baffled look. Why was he so angry? Did I do something? Am I a bad roommate? I expect him to start yelling but he just walks across the room to his desk and lean on it. Taking a snow globe and examining it, he finally speaks:
"So I saw Monica today. Funny story, she told me she gave you her number and you didn't call back. So, my only question is, why didn't you tell me she gave you her number? Last night, when I told you how I felt about her, why didn't you tell me? I mean, I know I only met you yesterday, but you seemed like a good guy and so I trusted you with this. So why did you keep it from me? Afraid I'll be hurt? Or are you just waiting so you can swoop in and charm her into your arms?" He turns his back to me.
What? I was not interested in her? The only girl I'm interested is Lydia.. Why would I steal his girl? I've just arrived and he has treated me so well. Why would I jeopardize any of that? I realize I haven't replied when he turns to me once again, his eyes red and his shoulders even more tense than before.
"Listen, mate. You've got it all wrong. I don't like Monica. I didn't consider calling her, especially after you told me that you like her. I didn't want to tell you because I didn't want you to be upset. You seem to really bloody like her, so I didn't want you to get your hopes down and give up. I promise I am in no way interested in her. I think I'm interested in someone else anyway..."
Upon hearing this, his face relaxes and he walks over to me, looking ashamed of accusing me so quickly. "I'm sorry, man. I guess I like her so much that I'm blinded my her. I should've known you wouldn't call her after our talk last night. We okay, bro?" He brings his fist in front of me and we 'brofist'. I nod, assuring him that it's all good between us. It was an honest mistake, anyway. He turns to leave the room, only to stop in his tracks and face me.
"Uh, when you said you're interested in someone else, who were you talking about?" The smirk on his face was almost annoying.
I look down in embarrassment, feeling myself blush. "J-just a girl. I'm not sure what I'm feeling. When I do though, I'll tell you."
"U-huh, sure." He laughs under his breath and exits the room.
Just as I'm about to continue reading my book, I hear Lydia's voice coming from the living room. As it gets louder, I realize that she's coming upstairs. Her laugh bring the entire house to life. I wait for her to go into her room so we could be alone when I go to talk to her. Just as I'm about to enter her room, my mom calls us all for dinner. Ugh. I can't wait much longer.
We sit through dinner without too much conversation, which was good for me as all I could think about was how to explain myself to Lydia. After dinner, I was had to have a shower before all the hot water ran out. We were a lot of people in one house, after all. I hope Lydia hasn't fallen asleep until I finish my shower.
After bathing I swiftly put on pajamas and head to Lydia's bedroom. I knock and upon getting no answer, I figured she must have fallen asleep. I turn to walk away, but I hear noises coming from her room. I open the door and go inside. Looking around the room, I can't see Lydia. She must be on her balcony, like most times. I walk towards the window to go to her balcony, when I locate Alex's coat on her bed. Why would his coat be here? Is he out on the balcony with her? Well, perfect! Now we aren't going to be alone so I can talk to her. I should just ask him to leave us alone for a few minutes. I can't wait any longer. I can't let things get more awkward between us.
I open the window and get to the balcony. To my horror, I find Lydia and Alex, kissing...
