Dylan's POV:
I pulled up to Monica's house and rang the doorbell, anxious about my first date with the girl of my dreams; the girl I've been in love with for a few years now.
She opened the door and my breathe was taken away. She was wearing black skinny jeans, a loose blue shirt with light purple flats, diamond earrings and a black handbag. Her clothes were so elegant and casual at the same time. She was really breathtaking as she smiled at me, her pearly whites beaming at me.
"Wow, you look; wow!"
Her smile became even bigger and her cheeks were filled with a bright pink color. "Thank you, Dyl. You look great yourself!"
"Thanks. Should we go?" I extend my hand and she takes it, intertwining our fingers. I take her to the car door and closed it after she got inside, like a perfect gentleman. So far so good, I thought.
I started the car and then we were off. I turned on the radio and Ed Sheeran's song "Photograph" started playing. I couldn't believe I was so nervous. Usually, Monica's presence appeases me- but tonight I couldn't help but worry about how things would go.
"Care to enlighten me on where we are going tonight?" Monica's sweet voice caused the neck on my neck to stand.
"Well, I know how when you were younger your granddad used to take to up to the hill and you would have a picnic, so I figured we could do that. But if you don't want to we could-"
"I'd love that, Dyl. That's by far the sweetest thing someone could do for me. Thank you."
"Well, I know you, Monica. I know you love romance and when someone goes the extra mile because it makes you feel special."
"Dylan?" She now put her hand on my knee and looked me in the eyes, hers sparkling as always. I nodded so she could proceed, cautious to pay attention to her as well as the road. "Why haven't I noticed you sooner.."
It was more like a statement rather than a question, but I answered anyway. :Because you were too busy being my friend, which I am ever so thankful for."
"I always knew you were my best friend, but I guess I was too oblivious to think about where things could go with us. I'm glad we're doing this though- you know, going on a date." She said her last word a little quieter, as if she was just as nervous for this date as I was.
The rest of the drive was quiet yet comfortable, the only audible sounds from the radio as it transitioned from different songs. We soon arrived to the highest hill that overlooked the city.
I opened her door and she exited, letting out a sigh as she looked at our amazing view. The city lights were beautiful and enchanting from this distance, the houses appearing smaller than fingernails and the people the same size as ants. "Wow." We both said in unison.
We exchanged glances and I could feel the sweat forming on my forehead from the nervousness I felt. I went to the trunk of the car and took out two blankets and a picnic basket. I walked towards a humongous oak tree and spread one of the blankets directly under it. Monica soon came and sat down on the blanket, her back against the tree trunk.
I opened the picnic basket and took out two candles- which I lit- and two glasses and a wine bottle. I filled the glasses with wine and handed her one before taking out some wraps I had bought earlier from Chipotle.
"I know how much you love Chipotle. I kinda wanted to make sure you liked everything." I handed her a wrap and took mine, sitting next to her against the trunk of the huge oak.
"I love everything, Dylan. You went through a lot of trouble and I really appreciate all of it."
"You deserve it," I simply said.I wrapped my arm around her and she took the other blanket and draped it over our bodies so we were both covered and warm. We sat like this for a while, eating and drinking our white wine as we gazed at our mesmerizing view. When we finished our food and wine, we put it back in the picnic basket and cuddled.
Monica laid her head on my chest and our legs were intertwined as I hugged her waist from the back, keeping her nice and warm. I could feel her breathing increase and her chest rise and fall.
" Dyl?"
"Yeah?"
"Thank you. Really. I'm having a great time. I don't get to relax and enjoy a nice evening up here anymore. And your presence is making it all the better." Her words were so genuine and sincere that I couldn't help myself.
"I really like you, Mon. I have for as long as I can remember and the fact that you're here with me tonight makes all the waiting worth it."
"Oh, Dylan.." Monica raised her body from mine and turned to face me. "I think I've liked you for a long time," she continues, "I just didn't admit it until now. I didn't want to get hurt."
"I'll never hurt you, Monica." I took her waist and pulled her close to me, her arms wrapping around my torso and my hands on her lower back. I looked into her eyes so she'd know that I meant what I said. Her eyes were glistening, a hint of relief and joy in them.
Then, she took my face and pressed her lips onto mine, and we were kissing. Her tongue slid through my lips and danced along with mine. Our arms were wrapped around each other and her sweet little moans assured me that she felt the same as I did. We must've been making out for a while because when we pulled away I realized how out of breath I was.
We cuddled for about another half hour before we look our belongings and got in the car so I could take Monica home.
During the car ride, she sang along to 'Infinity' and then 'Shut Up and Dance'. When her songs were finished and a song from the 80's she didn't know (so couldn't sing along to) came on and she turned her attention to me.
"So I guess we're dating now." And she took my hand and intertwined our fingers. I guess we were. And I couldn't be happier.
We soon arrived at her house and I gave her a kiss before saying goodnight and driving off. It took me about another ten minutes to get home and it was already quite late.
I couldn't wait to tell Thomas about my spectacular date. He helped me get the girl, after all. When I came home he had not yet arrived, so Alex called him and assured everyone he would be home soon. Alex begged me for some details that I didn't say because I wanted to tell Thomas about everything first, though I had mentioned to Alex that it was a great date. I think he guessed it anyway from my enormous smile.
Then, half an hour after I came home, Thomas and Lydia walked in, with smiles spread across their faces. This should be interesting...
