Chaptire Quatre: Fruit by the Foot
"Mama, stop it. You are embarrassing me." Vicktoriya whined, trying to slip out of the woman's tight hug. Her plea went unheard to the coddling mother as she pressed a firm stamp like kiss against her forehead.
"I'm sorry baby, but I'm just so proud of you." Clara Tillbury said, swaying her only girl side to side while her two sons ran around them pretending to be airplanes.
Vicktoriya stared at the woman from the corner of her eyes, quirking a brow, "For what? I'm just a manager. I am not doing anything."
Clara finally pulled back, rubbing her shoulder with one hand and the lipstick stain off the girl's head with the other, "I know but I'm proud of you for stepping out of your shell and, I don't know, I'm just happy to see that you're trying new things."
Vicktoriya smiled with her father's lips and with her mother's lake green eyes. She held her mother's elbows, soaking in her words, "Really?"
With trembling lips, her mother pulled her into another suffocating embrace, "Oh, my baby!"
In amusement, the demons that are her siblings began echoing, "Baby, Baby, Baby!"
Glaring down at them, she pointed her cane at them, "Shut up, you little shits—"
"Vick?"
Vicktoriya pulled away from her mother and turned towards the brunette. Shauna looked between the girl and her comedic family before a smile pulled onto her face, "Hey, we are boarding now."
The other girl didn't understand how she could smile though, especially after what she caught her doing. Still, Vick nodded and finalized her goodbyes. When she joined Shauna, she was struggling to stuff the scarf her mother had gifted her in her bag.
Shauna looked at her carefully before taking over to help her. Vicktoriya stopped, stiffening at their hands brushing together. Eventually, she flexed it to shake the feeling off and then held her bag strap.
"How long has it been?" Vick asked, drawing Shauna's eyes up from the scarf to meet hers.
She swallowed before asking, "How long has what been?"
Vick inched in closer, as if anyone in the bustling airport would care to hear, "How long have you and Jeff been fucking?"
It was like she pressed pause on a horror movie. Shauna stared back at her, her breathing hitched and her eyes were like marbles. Vicktoriya just couldn't understand why. Sure, she played hot and cold with Jackie but Shauna was playing with fire.
Getting over her shock, Shauna took a step closer, using her height against the shorter girl, "That's none of your business. And if you know what's best for you, you'd keep what you saw to yourself."
"I won't tell her, I was never going to, I swear." Vicktoriya admitted, catching Shauna off guard once again. Jackie should know, Vicktoriya firmly believed that but she didn't want to be the one to tell her. In the constellations that are Jackie, Shauna and even the idiot blonde, Vicktoriya was just a telescope. An observer that knew well to shut the hell up.
