The morning air was cold on Julia's skin as she bored her eyes into the ambulance that sat in front of the prison. It was the first time she would see her mother outside of prison in 16 years, only for her to be locked up again. Sure, it was to help her, but that didn't make Julia feel any better about what had to be done.

Her mother stepped outside the door, wincing at the brightness of the sun on her face. With how pale Kimberly was, one would assume she hadn't been outside in years even if they were allowed time in the courtyard.

Jax stared at the woman for a moment, having never met her or seen a single photograph, "That her?"

"Yeah," Julia breathed out.

Ryan hadn't allowed her mother to take any kinds of photos of herself or the children. Well, it was more that he made his wife feel so disgusted with herself that she'd cry anytime she looked at a photo. Always called herself ugly and fat and worthless and things like that. There were times when Julia had felt more like a therapist than a daughter or a sister. She had been the one to pick up everyone's pieces when they would fall down. It was probably why she couldn't fathom anyone ever wanting to do the same for her. So Jax always looking after her now was a hard pill to swallow.

Kimberly looked out of the gates and spotted Julia and Jax, giving her daughter a sad smile. She had been informed of her transfer, and while she had freaked out at first, she knew it had to happen if she ever wanted to live a normal life.

"You gonna talk to her?" Jax asked.

"Not until we get to the facility. They'll let me say some goodbyes before she goes in. Visiting will be allowed after she acclimates to the environment."

Jax started up his bike. Kimberly stared at him in confusion before her eyes went wide at the familiar kutte he wore. She recognized it as if she had seen it yesterday. Her daughter had never once mentioned SAMCRO to her or anyone's involvement.

The paramedics strapped her mother onto the gurney and lifted her into the back of the ambulance.

Julia took a deep breath before following the ambulance as it drove away. It wasn't a particularly long drive. Only a few miles into the city over from Charming. She felt like she was going to have a panic attack as she watched every car that passed by, hoping that she wouldn't see Stahl in one of them. She never did, but that didn't stop her paranoid thoughts.

She only managed to feel relief when they finally made it and she got off her bike to approach the ambulance. The back opened up and they placed the gurney down on the floor.

Kimberly smiled sweetly at her daughter, "Hey, baby."

Julia held her mother's hand, "Hey, mom. Uh, we only have a minute or two before they have to take you. I'm...shit, mom, I'm so sorry."

"Don't be sorry, sweetheart. I know you're only doing this for me. We're gonna be ok," Kimberly reassured before straining to look at Jax, who was still sitting on his bike, "Is that him? Is that Jax?"

Julia nodded, "Yeah. Yeah, that's him."

"You didn't tell me he was a Son."

"I didn't want to bring up any old memories."

"It's ok. At least I know he'll take good care of you. You'll make sure he does, right?"

Julia knew what she was really asking. She wanted to know if Julia would leave if he tried to hurt her like Ryan did.

Julia squeezed her mother's hand, "Don't worry, mom. I can put him in his place. But, he's a good one."

"Good. You deserve only the best. Keep taking care of your brother for me."
