There was nothing more beautiful than a sunny day in New York City.

Fresh coffee sitting on my desk as I ran through some patient's files and the sight of panicked interns practically running around like headless chickens.

I shook my head in disbelief almost horrified to know they're the future doctors of this very hospital. I was almost somewhat hesitant to allow them in an OR but unfortunately, for them in order to learn they'd need to perform their very own surgery.

Yikes.

I roughly sighed as I inspected the surgery board. Mia had a huge surgery going on around 2:30 this afternoon saying it's a bile extraction and she had two interns on her case simply because she handpicked them.

Avery had a huge trauma package for him, and I think he was performing surgery right now in OR 3. I checked my watch and it was 10 am right now leaving me lying back in my chair. Cracking a few neck bones just to loosen up the tension building up.

I stared at my wedding photo of Benson holding me against his chest whilst smiling down on my small frame. On our wedding day you could say we were somewhat in love. All the giggling and kisses on the cheeks but that all faded the minute we got home.

We were distant and hardly looked at one another. He was always at the office or in his study if he decided to work from home, and I was always at the hospital.

A sudden memory came back, and it was the talk I had with my father back in February. It was late at night and I was helping him cook dinner. He suddenly brought up the topic of children and how they'd be such a great thing for the business.

I remember choking on my water and I had the biggest red face ever. It's not that I didn't want kids no, I love kids always wanted one of my own but with Benson?

No.

I wouldn't want kids with him because simply it didn't feel quite right. I don't know why but it just didn't sit right, and I had no idea how I'd tell Ben about it.

"Hello?" Mia's voice pulled me out of my daydream, and I fixed my gaze on the muffins she had in the pastry bag "hey" I mumbled as I leaned further in my chair.

She smiled lightly before sitting in front of me laying out the muffins on the countertop. Her hair was held back with a claw clip and her glasses sat on top of her head. She wore her white Converse whereas I wore my black ones.

She wore navy-blue scrubs as well and she looked very gorgeous today.

"You seemed to have taken a bit longer yesterday with that ankle patient" she started "did something happen in there?"

She was drinking from her water bottle and stared right at her through my glasses.

"No, he was just someone I knew from high school. He's a pro hockey player now" I muttered shockingly still unable to adjust the fact he plays professionally now.

"Oh really? What's his name? maybe I'd know him because my family are huge hockey fans, they Bruins fans so I'm sure they'd know, or I will" she slumped casually back in her seat and I tried to remember what team they played for.
