Leaving Matthews house was a bit wrong of me, but I knew if I stayed, it'd mean something to him, and I didn't need him to think we're getting somewhere.

It was simply sex and nothing else.

I was still on my way home with the radio on playing some random artist's song.

Pulling into my driveway I could see Benson's car parked on the other side. I grabbed my bag and all my other stuff as I jammed my key into the lock of the door.

I was met with a pitch black living room and a dimmed kitchen. It was silent in here so I assumed Benson was already in bed sleeping.

What I didn't expect was him sitting in a singular couch with no shirt. Just in his plaid pajama pants and reading glasses.

He had a hand under his chin and his eyes were closed. He was just sitting there in silence. It was 12 pm and it was rare for him to be up especially if he got home early.

Walking slowly towards the staircase, I tried to be quiet as possible but that all went downhill when I heard his strained voice.

"You're home" he murmured softly. Still rooted in his seat staring at the window. My legs stilled as I tried to think of something to say.

But nothing came to mind.

Turning around, I walked towards him standing in between his legs with my arms folded around each other.

He didn't look at me as I stood there. His gaze was was rather somewhere else as he twirled the copper liquid in its glass.

"Why are you home only now?" He asked, with calmness lacing his tone, one would think he didn't mind and couldn't care less. One would think he wasn't the protective type, and he was just simply asking. But by the way he was sitting there too calm and collected, it made my skin crawl in worry.

Why did he care?

Why did it matter where I was? It shouldn't bother him especially since it isn't my first time being home late than usual.

Staring at his bare chest, I watched as it heaved up and down in a slow pace. He was waiting for my response that I had yet to respond too, but yet nothing had come out of my mouth.

"I'm waiting" he said, as he leaned further into the seat with his legs opening wider.

With sweaty palms, I tightened my grip around my arms trying to get rid of the nerves.

Did he find out?

Did he happen to find out what's happening between me and Matthew?

No, it was too early for him to find out. He can't find out. Not now at least.

"I was working late because one of the patients were coding and they needed immediate surgery"

That was the fastest thing I could even think of. It was a lame excuse, but I think he'll buy it. After all I am a surgeon, so he'll have to buy the act.

His eyes finally found mine, and with an intense look he just watched me trying to find any type of lie beneath my act. But as I said earlier, he'd fall into it.
