𝐂𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐨sniffled, wiping her tear-streaked cheeks as she lay curled up in Kazimir's bed, watching him sleep peacefully beside her. Meanwhile, she was damn near miserable.
Her period had hit her full force, and she was feeling every bit of it. Thank God she had pads in her bag, if she hadn't, the embarrassment would've eaten her alive. These three days were always hell, but the first? The absolute worst. Her face was puffy, her nose was stuffy, and the cramps and back pain made it impossible to get comfortable. Honestly, she dreaded this shit more than the seasonal sickness she always caught when the weather changed.
Her AirPods played And I by Ciara in an attempt to soothe the pain, but it wasn't helping much.
"Oh my God," She groaned under her breath, rubbing her lower back. She tried to keep quiet, not wanting to wake Mir, but as if the universe wasn't done messing with her, a knock echoed through the room.
Cairo sighed, rolling onto her side. "Kazi." She reached out, tapping his arm.
Nothing.
She nudged him harder, but he was dead to the world.
Frustrated, she huffed and gave up, pausing her music before slowly pushing herself up. Every movement felt like a struggle as she limped toward the door, her cramps making her wince. When she finally pulled it open, Julani stood there with Syani in her arms.
"Hey," Julani greeted, her voice light.
Cairo forced a weak smile, exhausted but still softening at the sight of Syani. "Hey. Hi, Yani."
As soon as she spoke, Syani's little face lit up.
"Cairo!" She squealed, immediately squirming out of her mother's arms and wrapping herself around Cairo's legs.
Cairo let out a breathy laugh, bending down despite the pain to rub Syani's back. "Hi, baby," She murmured, her body aching.
"Umm, is Mir here?" Julani asked, arms crossed, a deep scowl settling on her face.
