Nico and Kaden have made their way to the hospital, and they are wrapping their visit up with Mack.
(K) We love you.
Nico stares at Kaden with tears in his eyes.
(N) He is right baby. We do love you. We will see you tomorrow.
Nico and Kaden make it to the car and drive home. They make it in, and Nico speaks with Zen. He agrees to be there at seven and both kids are staying at home. They delivered the hospital bed, and they have the room set up. Torrin is already asleep and Nico grabs Kaden's hand after Zen leaves. They walk to his room and take a shower together. They finish up and Nico goes and gets Torrin. He lays him on one side and Nico gets in the middle. Kaden cuddles up to him and they all go to sleep. Nico can't wait for tomorrow.
Nico's alarm goes off and he slides out of the bed. Kaden wakes up and Nico asks him to lay back down and keep Torrin comfortable. He goes and takes a shower and gets ready. Zen makes it before seven and Nico takes off to the hospital. Kevin has already called Nico and they will talk as he drives.
(N) Hello?
(K) How are you doing this morning?
(N) I am fine, how are you?
(K) We are good. We have requested they push the tournament back one week and they did. The committee knows it would be an unfair disadvantage for Mack's students.
(N) That is great.
(K) Can you tell me how he is doing? I am going to try and visit this afternoon after work.
(N) I am on my way. The plan was to wake him up this morning and see how he is feeling. If he is feeling better, they said he could come home.
(K) This soon?
(N) Yes, I did speak with the surgeon last night after we left. They went ahead and inserted the ICD last night. I made the decision for him. I hope he is not going to be mad.
(K) I do not think he will be upset.
(N) I hope not.
(K) I will go to his house this afternoon to check on him.
(N) It will be empty.
(K) I don't understand.
(N) I am going to do everything in my power to assure he comes home with me. I have a room set up for him.
(K) Will you keep me updated?
(N) I will.
(K) Ok, call me as soon as you can.
(N) I will.
(K) Thank you.
(N) Yes sir.
Nico hangs up the phone and he makes it to the hospital. He walks in and he goes to the ICU. Mack is gone. He calls the surgeon up and they have moved him to a regular room. Nico makes his way to the seventh floor, and he sees Mack walking the floor with two nurses. He is booking it and they have a wheelchair behind him. The surgeon pulls Nico aside and they talk.
(N) He is walking.
(S) Yes, he is feeling better. I want to keep him for a day or two longer, but he wants to go home. I am going to let him go if he agrees to go to your house.
(N) Was he angry about the ICD?
(S) He was not, I informed him you gave us permission. It seemed to upset him. He is afraid you are going to think he is weak.
(N) When can I see him?
They both see the nurses and Mack going back into his room. He smiles and looks at Nico.
