Toward the edge of the school grounds, there was an old building that looked as if it was falling apart. Faded and peeling paint, overgrown bushes and weeds, and hanging shutters. The exterior would've made anyone assume that the building was abandoned and awaiting demolition. However, the exterior was actually to drive away anyone with a prying eye. The inside was clean as could be. It was fully furnished and had working lights and electricity. Before the bigger building was constructed, this had been the old administration building. Now it serves as the headquarters of the Occult Research Club. Its leader was 3rd year student Rias Gremory. A girl of medium height, Rias excelled at academics. Her popularity made her one of the four most popular female students in the whole school. She had red hair that reached to her waist, her chest was on the large side, and a charming smile. It was said that if Rias smiled at you, then you might as well have been dead. Rias didn't care much for boys which was why she refused the advances of everyone that asked her out. Some assumed she was lesbian because of that. Not that she cared mind you. Her only focus was school and running her club.

Her vice president was Akeno Himejima, the 2nd most popular girl. Unlike Rias, Akeno spoke to almost everyone and always in a kind and approachable manner. She knew the male students lusted after her and she used it for her amusement. She teased them and made them blush at every opportunity. Another club member was Kiba Yuuto. Crowned as the prince of Kuoh, he was aptly nicknamed "pretty boy" by the male body due to his looks and the irresistible allure he seemed to have on the female students. Whereas all the male students wanted Akeno or Rias, all the girls wanted Kiba. The last member was a short first-year girl named Koneko Tojou. Koneko was a quiet girl, preferring to focus on her studies than other people. Since she was an introvert, not much was known about her save for two things. She always wore a black cat hairclip in her hair and she liked sweets. Everything else was a mystery. Each of the four students wouldn't have seemed odd in the slightest if you were human. Every single one of them was a devil. Being the natural enemies of both the fallen and Heaven, the denizens of the Underworld had fought in the bloody three-way war that occurred before the dawn of humanity thousands of years ago. With the war currently in a stalemate, Rias and her clubmates need not fear attacks by angels or their fallen brethren. It wasn't long after she reached high school age that she traveled from her home in the Underworld to pursue her education on Earth. She enjoyed it immensely and preferred it over her schooling in the Underworld. There was something about the way humans conducted themselves that she found interesting.

Today had started like any other for the ORC. They went to class and retreated to their club HQ once the final bell was rung. Kiba and Koneko went off to complete their daily tasks while Akeno helped Rias with the more political matters of the club. Rias had recently been scouting for potential new members to reincarnate and she'd already found a few. There were a couple of humans she sensed great strength in, but the two that caught her eye the most were Issei and Y/n. Issei had always had something different about him that made him stand out, but Y/n was on a whole other level. He'd only been enrolled for a day but Rias could sense his aura across the school. For that to happen meant only one thing. He was very, very powerful. Too powerful to be human. She had yet to figure out if he belonged to one of the three factions or was on another level entirely. She sensed the aura of a fallen, but that was the least of her worries. What concerned her was the other part of him. Y/n had his fallen angel blood but he also had something more primal inside him. He was a beast waiting to be unleashed. He was the kind of person you always had to watch your back around no matter what. If she could get someone like that to become a devil and serve her, then no one would ever think little of the Gremory heiress again. She wasn't going to let someone else poach such a fine specimen from her but she made it a point not to press the matter if Y/n refused. She was smarter than that. If he said no then that was that. No one was dumb enough to anger a Nephilim. Not even the arrogant fools on the devil high council.
