Ten - Tim

At this point, I don't even know what to do. I mean We are doing something, though that something is just sitting on the couch with Jana, Lucy, and Kojo. I can't tell if we are thinking or if we are all just staring off into space. I honestly don't mind but the quietness is killing me. I don't know if I can take this any longer.
"I don't know what to do Lucy, this is eating at me, I mean I can't just keep sending her back to her house where her mother is neglecting her. She filled out a missing person's report. She claims that I kidnapped her. How crazy is that? I mean she doesn't even care if she is gone for days. For those days she has been at my apartment in tears, wishing none of this was happening. That's where she was. Not at home crying on her mother's shoulder."
"I don't know what to do either Tim, I mean she has been through so much. I know that you just want to do the best for her."
"Yeah, I guess so."
I can feel a little bit of movement.
"What's going to happen now?"
There was a whisper coming out of Jana, it wasn't soft because she needed to be quiet, she was scared. Not just scared but I could see it in her eyes, she was terrified.
I noticed that she was shaking, it wasn't very noticeable, but you could still see it. Lucy spoke up because she knew that I had no idea what to say.
"We don't know yet, but we are going to try our best, okay?"
"Okay, if you say so."
"Yes, I say so."
"Is my mom taking me away? Please tell me that she isn't?"
"I am not going to let that happen."
"O-okay. Thank you, Tim, I don't know what I would do without you."
"I don't know either Jana."
"Um yes you do Tim, you have Lucy you would be fine."
There was some truth to what she was saying. I mean if I had never gone on that call to her house, I may have never known what was happening.
I'm glad that I did though because now I can be a safe place for her, one that I didn't have when I was her age. Oh, how I wish that I had that but only one can dream. If I did then maybe things would be different, and I wouldn't be who I am today. That is a conversation for another time, I guess.
"Jana, do you know why your mom would file a missing person's report on you?"
"I have no idea, all I know is that she is being selfish. She probably is trying to make everyone think that she is the perfect mother. She isn't. Plus, I'm sure that it is part of her bail agreement. I wouldn't be surprised if it was."
"Okay, well I have a friend in arraignment so I can see if I can get her bail agreement. It shouldn't be that hard. I'll call him in the morning and hopefully we can."
"Do you think that we can prove that she doesn't care about me? What would happen then though? I would have no home."
"Let's not worry about that, and besides you can always stay with Lucy and me."
"Okay."
