Ten Months Later

Charlie walked into the small café, pulling her coat on closer to protect her from the cold weather. She moved forward to the counter and rattled off her order before going to the waiting area.

She grabbed out her phone to pass the time but looked up when she heard her name being said. "Whiskey?" She raised her eyebrows at her ex girlfriend. "Hi."

"Hi." Whiskey walked over to her a little awkwardly. "Uh, fancy seeing you here."

Charlie nodded. "I just got into town. Have some business here."

"Ah." Whiskey nodded her head. "How have you been? It's been a while."

They had only seen each other twice since the island and it was when Charlie had packed her clothes from Duke's house and at his funeral. Though, she didn't remember speaking to Whiskey at the funeral. It had all been a blur.

"I'm alright. Getting through everything day by day." Charlie responded. "You?"

Whiskey shrugged. "Not great. Um... I - I miss you." Charlie looked down to the floor. "Maybe you'd want to drink your coffee here? We could catch up."

"I can't. I'm meeting someone here." Charlie spoke honestly.

"Oh, who?"

The café door opened again and a woman walked in, making her way over to the two girls before wrapping her arm around Charlie's waist. "Hey, babe." She turned to Whiskey and looked surprised. "Whiskey? Hi."

"Helen." Whiskey's whole face had dropped as she looked between them. "You two..." She didn't even need to finish her sentence.

"Yeah." Charlie confirmed, giving Whiskey a look of sympathy. Even after everything they went through, Charlie still had a soft spot for her. She always would.

"Then I guess I'll leave you two alone." Whiskey frowned. "But it was really nice seeing you again, Charlie. I meant what I said."

"Charlie!" The server called out.

"It was nice seeing you to." Charlie gave Whiskey a smile before getting her and Helen's order.

Once they were outside, Helen drummed her fingers against the outside of the cup. "Seeing Whiskey again. That must have brought up some old feelings."

Charlie looked at her with a shake of her head. "Not one bit." She kissed her cheek. "Come on, it's freezing out here."

Helen smiled at her.
