Jeongguk stares at himself in the mirror, he stares until his face starts to distort and now he's staring at someone he hasn't ever seen in his life.

"Gguk."

Jeongguk flinches, he looks back seeing his mother walk in.

"Yes, eomma?" He asks.

"Why aren't you telling us who your mate is?" Areum rests her arm on his shoulder. "I know you might have reasons but please, your mate is also the future leader of Moonsway. He needs to be trained."

"If your mate even steps inside the pack house, I will kill him."

Jeongguk shudders. "I..."

"Come on, Gguk."

"My mate hasn't turned twenty-one yet."

"Huh?" Areum's eyes instantly widened. "Oh my Moon Goddess. Is that why you aren't telling anybody who he is?"

Jeongguk just nods. "He doesn't know I'm his mate."

"Oh my baby," Areum embraces the young omega, "don't worry, someday your mate will know of you and you'll be happy."

Jeongguk wonders if he ever will, he looks at her staring at her face she's smiling at him but Jeongguk despises her.

She doesn't trust him.

Even if she does believe his words or knows that whatever Jeongguk has been telling her for ten years now... her brother is dearer to her.

Dearer than Jeongguk is.

He's tried everything- crying, screaming, yelling, whispering- it's all useless. She can't hear him.

All Jeongguk feels is suffocated in her arms, he has also tried to tell his father but his mother always stopped him.

She used to say, "it's all in your head"

Jeongguk despises her. He takes a step back and looks back into the mirror, patting down his hair as he walks towards the door only for Jung-jae to block his way.

With every step Jung-jae took, Jeongguk took one back pathetically. He looks at his mother, desperate, but Areum just casts a look at Jung-jae before walking out.

Jeongguk's own mother had left him in the hands of the devil, who else is he supposed to even ever trust?

"Well, well..." Jung-jae grabs Jeongguk's jaw and it hurts, Jeongguk looks up at his fingers trembling but he forces the rest of his body to remain stagnant even when his instincts cry out wanting to force himself out of the man's hold and just run.

Run far away. Far enough so nobody could ever get their hands on him. He wants to be the one who just drifts away with the wind or gets one with the soil. He does not want to be alive. He wants to be buried.

Jung-jae tilts his head, his nose running along the omega's jaw. "Younger than you? Who is it?"

Jeongguk stays silent. He just stares at Jung-jae disgust crawling under his skin due to the heat between their bodies as a bile rises up his throat.

"Die." That's all he says getting shoved back on his bed and he looks at the door parted wide open, he feels someone is staring. "Kill yourself."

"Don't test me." He drags Jeongguk forward holding his ankle. The omega wants to die. "Tell me."

Jeongguk only stares at him. He can't. He wouldn't.

Taehyung should live, he doesn't deserve to die.

"Kill." Jeongguk growls. "Yourself." He pushes the man away before walking out of his room.

When he looks at his side his mother is standing right there, her hand clutched around the table lamp, stance rigid and ready to attack. It's useless though, she's a coward. Even if Jung-jae decided to kill him right at that moment his mother would never be able to gather enough courage to strike her brother.
