“My beautiful, baby boy.” Myung softly pinches Jeongguk's rose dusted cheeks, looking at his fingers just to see if the powder blush smeared against his thumb. It did. “Hah, got some on me.”
Jeongguk just stares at his father. “I'm sorry.” He says.
“I'm not the one you should be saying that too.” Myung pats his son's cheek. “You have hurt your alpha, fix it, my boy. I know you will.”
“I can't… Taehyung needs to leave.” He tells his father desperately reaching out to tug on his suit lapel. “Appa… he isn't safe here.”
Myung narrows his eyes. “Is it about your uncle, Jeongguk?”
So, his father knows too.
Why does everybody know but just refuse to help him?
“You know?” He knows he is frowning, his tone accusing and he sees the way his father's smile dims a little.
“A guess.” Myung says. Jeongguk knows it wasn't just a guess, his father just lied to him. “A guess because Jung-jae has threatened to kill me too, your eomma has also begged me to leave, Gguk-ah. He is just scaring you. There is absolutely no way he can harm your mate.”
There is. Jeongguk wants to scream. There are a lot of ways. He wants to yell but he just stares at his father.
Jeongguk whispers. “I don't want him to die.”
“He won't.” Myung holds Jeongguk's face in his palms. “You have my word.”
What is Jeongguk going to do with the word if Taehyung is gone? The word will just be words, syllables lost in the air, carried away with the wind.
Words are non-existent. Jeongguk hates words, vows and promises— they are all the same. No one knows the future. It all gives him hope and in twenty-one years of his life he knows hope only brings disappointment.
Words, vows and promises are lies.
Everything is a lie until the point when words turn into reality only then it's true.
Jeongguk just turns around and walks out of the room only to stop right in front of his mate who is standing there dressed in a fitted suit, his hair completely slicked back and the omega's heart plummets.
Handsome, his inner voice hums. When he looked into Taehyung's sharp azure eyes that seemed to pop out more, not that the tousles of his curls didn't mask them. They look so clear under the lights, like the waves of sea Jeongguk dreams of.
Taehyung also couldn't help but stare into those brown eyes, so round that it seemed the whole world could be trapped in it. For the first time ever in his life he had thought if someone could rival the moon's beauty it would be Jeongguk, dressed in the flowy white robes that swish around him, the bell shelves of it so long that they alone reach the omega's knees.
“You are here.” Myung stands beside Jeongguk, hand heavy on the omega's shoulder. “Come on, sunshine, give your hand to him. You have a mate now, I can't walk you to the crowd. It's your alpha's responsibility now.”
Jeongguk looks at his father, a little betrayed because Myung is always the one who stays close to him. He just has to be there with his father because he knows he is safe as long as he is holding his father's arm.
With a sigh, Taehyung places his palm open in mid-air, looking away waiting for Jeongguk to make up his mind. He feels the hand that slides into his hand is a little rough which makes him turn and stare at the floral lace gloves that Jeongguk wore.
He intertwines their fingers and watches as Jeongguk stares at it before looking up at Taehyung with eyes surrounded with sparkles, his lips shine too, so do his pink cheek bones. Everything about Jeongguk's face is sparkly.
