Amaira's POV:
As Reyansh went inside, the place again fell silent, but this time my mood was way better than before because now my mind wasn't messed up. The crying session helped me to let go of all of the thoughts, but his earlier words kept ringing in my head.
Should I really talk to Aayan about this? Will it be my misunderstanding about the situations? Is he going to break our friendship if the situation turns out to be a mere misunderstanding? The thoughts scared me because, whatever the matter, I cannot live without Manvi and Aayan; they are important parts of my life. I walked inside the house trying to figure out my emotions, and once again I was in the trap of overthinking.
Time passed by playing badminton, cards, and other games; neither I talked to Aayan nor he came to me, and I understood that accepting people's changing behavior is most essential. Maybe I was overthinking too much, or maybe I was right.
Authors POV:
Meanwhile, everything was happening, Aayan was feeling bad for Amaira. He always wanted Amaira by his side as his best friend, and he understood that he had been unintentionally ignoring Amaira lately. He observed that she stopped sharing her personal problems with him. After today's incident, Aayan wanted to talk out everything, but he wasn't confident, still he decided to talk with her personally.
Amaira was sitting at the poolside alone, her legs dipped in water, gazing at the sky and seeing the immense beauty of the full moon and those shining stars. That's when Aayan came and sat beside her. She said nothing, nor did she avert her gaze. Aayan nudged her shoulder with his to get her attention. She looked at him, and his eyes softened seeing her little pale face, and without letting her say anything, he apologized.
"Sorry," Aayan said, his head hanging low, feeling guilty for his actions.
"Um, let it be it's okay," she replied in a low voice, fidgeting with her fingers.
His head snapped towards her, seeing her forgiving him way too quickly. "No. Let me say everything today; let me express myself; I don't want misunderstandings."
He knew this was not Amaira's usual behavior; he never wanted Amaira to distance herself from him. He was ready to explain everything, because after all, it was a matter of their friendship and their bond, and for him, Amaira was more than a best friend; she was like his sister. He then continued, but again, his gaze averted towards the pool because he wasn't confident enough to say all this looking in her eyes.
"What do you want to explain? The reasons to watch movies without me, that we decided to watch together? Or to think that I'll tell everything to Manvi even after you know that I'm rooting for you both," she said, her voice trembling as her lips wobbled, trying to take control over her emotions.
"I am so sorry, Amaira. I know I messed up. I know you were sad not only because of today but because I have become distant from you lately. I know what you must be feeling, but I swear I didn't intentionally distance you from me. You know I love Manvi. I was figuring out my feelings, and I wanted to confirm that this is not just attraction. I know sometimes I used to talk to her more than you, and I wanted to know more about her from her. I noticed she was getting comfortable with me, and I was damn happy with it, but when I sat alone and thought about the past few days, I realized that in this period I ignored you unintentionally. I realized you stopped texting me about your personal things. I realized you were always there to listen to me talk about Manvi, but I was not there. There's no reason why we watched the movies without you. It's not that we didn't want to invite you; Manvi was almost half way to call you for the movie, but it was my selfishness that took over me to watch it only with her. I know you'll not tell about my feelings to anyone, but still, I raised my voice. It's not what I meant at that time. My voice usually reaches its high pitch whenever I am nervous. I always try to control it, but today I don't know what happened. I am so sorry, Amaira. I understood that Manvi is my love, but you are my best friend. You unknowingly became my sister, who helped me through everything. Amaira Please accept my apology, and next time, if I ever behaved like a mad man, slap me and tell me what hurts you instead of ignoring me. I want you to be by my side always as my best friend, as our best friend."
Saying all this, Aayan, who was looking into the pool, eyes welled up with tears, looked at Amaira. Tears were flowing from her eyes, and when their eyes met, she hugged him and said, "Bas kar pagle aur kitna rulayega."
("stop it fool, how much will you make me cry")"Jab tak tu maaf nai kardeti," Aayan said, giggling.
("until you forgive me")"Theek hei chal maaf krdiya, tujhse kyahi ruthna, pr iss maafi ke badle mei muje kuch chahiy."
("okay I forgive you, what's the point to be angry on you, but on the behalf of this forgiveness I want something")"Kya?"
("what?")"1 sunflower bouquet, 1 pair of jhumka, 1 cake, and 3 movie tickets."
"Mera pocket khali karvake rahegi na tu."
("You'll only stop after emptying my wallet")"Haan toh, tuje kisne kaha tha muje ignore krne ab le bhugat saja."
("Yes, who told you to ignore me, now take this as punishment")"Theek hei mataji jaisa aap kahe." He said playfully joining hands infront of her and bowing his head.
("okay mam whatever you say")"Aur yaad rakh tune hi tuje thappad marneki permission di hei to abb ready reh," she said, getting up and running away after slightly hitting his head, and he ran after her to catch her.
("and keep in mind that you yourself gave me the permission to slap you, so be ready")Meanwhile, Reyansh, who was watching everything from afar, was smiling, seeing them happy and that's how their friendship was saved, and they proved that a girl and boy can be best friends without any romantic feelings towards each other.
