Third person's POV:
Virat and rohit after the meeting with Suhani and abhishek went to the party again. Just because they wanted to get hardik alone. But hardik was nowhere to be seen, he had already gone to his room to retire for the day.
So, they also left from there. "what do you think of this entire situation ro?" virat asked when they were out of the earshot of lurking shadows. "I don't know anything right now. but if this is true and we can help ishan come back on the team somehow then I am going to do everything to get him back."
Both of their eyes were reflecting the same emotion. Mirroring each other. It was clear that there was nothing they wouldn't do to get things back on line. And with the surging emotions they both went to their respective rooms to think for tomorrow.
Abhishek on the other side of the hotel was having a fight with his own emotions. He did not know what and who was right anymore. To be doubting shubman was same as doubting himself for him. If shubman was wrong and couldn't be trusted then so was he.
But right now, his heart provided, right now ishan was more important. To get ishan back was more important and to help him was more important. And if he had to doubt shubman to get there he would do it.
There were conflicting emotions in the air. Some people were enjoying their life to the fullest and were completely worry free. Some had worries which were limited to their homes and future. Some had worries limited to cricket and its future. But for some, their mind was in a turmoil. There were so many emotions in them, attacking them at the same time. Life in the next few months or maybe years would be hard for these people.
"hello, who is it?" it was Suhani. Sitting alone on the terrace, she received a phone call but the number on the display was unknown. She received the call with a calm face, but the colour from her face drained as she heard the other person speak. "I told you not to contact me, didn't I? look I am trying to start a life away from all this. Please just do not contact me again. And no, I don't need your help. Thank you."
She declined the call and threw her phone away from her as if burnt. She had enough worries as it was but now it seemed like there were more things to think about then just cricket and cricketers.
The next day rohit and virat were both successful in getting hardik alone after breakfast. "let's go to the nearby restaurant today for lunch." Virat suggested. "yeah, let's do that we didn't get to talk about things and enjoy our company for so long. Just the three of us." Rohit added. And hardik being the overhyper puppy that he was agreed immediately.
To be doubting their own people was bad but this had to be done. So, they promised to meet at the restaurant and said the goodbyes to go spend some time with their families before meeting for the lunch.
"did you speak with Suhani?" Anushka asked virat as soon as he entered the room. "yeah." He replied. "good but don't think about it too much." "I'll try not to nush. You won't ask what it was?" virat questioned. And there was nothing virat would hide from Anushka but this was not in his hands. "since I know that you can't tell me, I won't ask either." And virat fell in love again. I mean, who wouldn't?
Just like they had planned, they met for the lunch. "how is life going harry?" rohit decided to break the heavy silence. "its going amazing, why?" hardik was smiling but sitting here with his two beloved seniors even he could feel the tension in the air.
They were sitting here for quite sometime now but nobody dared to even breath loudly. They were sitting here waiting for the words to form themselves. Just then the food arrived and the waiter went away. But nobody touched the food. It was sitting there getting cold.
Hardik felt the chills in his bones and thought that maybe the temperature set for the ac is too low here. "what is wrong?" hardik decided to speak before he dies from the unbearably heavy silence. "nothing. We were just thinking about ishan." Virat spoke and hardik visibly shivered.
I mean this was expected right? Ishan was like a brother to hardik. Both the pandya brothers loved ishan like their own. And therefore, hardik was more sensitive to this topic then other people.
"we were just thinking about the times when he was on the team. There wasn't any awkward dinners when he was here." and everyone smiled at that. That was true. He was the life of every gathering. He always knew how to make everyone feel comfortable around him.
"Yeah, that is true. He doesn't deserve any of this. If I could, I would give him everything of mine and exchange fates with him." And his eyes told that he would. He would give ishan the world if he could. Hardik would put himself on line to protect ishan.
And there was silence again. But this silence was a comfortable one. They ate and talked about random stuff. It all felt amazing. The comfortable bubble shifted to the topic of ishan once more.
"Has he told you anything?" virat asked hardik. "No. not the things he should have told me. But from what I know this is not as simple as it looks. I don't know if I should tell you this but I am smelling some trouble from this."
On that rohit looked like he wanted to say something but virat stopped him, "have you spoken with shubman these days?" virat decided to change the topic for the time being. "no. I am scared for him bhaiya. I am afraid he would go back to being the person he was when he first came here."
Nobody wanted shubman to become that under confident scared person again. He had gained quite some confidence and confidence affects the game in direct proportion. When he first came in the team, he talked to just Rishabh and called it a day. He would stutter every time he opened his mouth in front of virat.
He just listened to everything that people told him without saying a single word. New places and people scared him and that was quite clear but he also felt insecure being between so many good players. He felt like he didn't deserve being here.
But the things got better when ishan came into the team. The members saw the shubman they never expected to see. A brighter, a better shubman. And no, there is no way anyone would want to lose this shubman. "we would try our best to not let that happen harry." It was rohit who spoke.
"should we call him?" suggested virat. "yeah let's do that." And so, they called shubman. They were already losing Ishan, they couldn't lose shubman as well. And they didn't expect him to but he still picked the call up.
"Hello bhaiya." His voice didn't sound as upset as they expected it to sound. And that healed something in them. "hi bache. What were you doing?" harry asked. "nothing much I just woke up from a nap." And when they paid more attention, they could detect the sleep in his voice.
"that's nice. Rest more." "yes bhaiya. How is everything going there?" he asked and then the conversation flowed freely. They talked about things like there was nothing wrong. Like everything was okay and normal. And they all secretly wished for it to be true.
The trio spoke about how they were talking about the old shubman. And they all shared a laugh at that. They were reliving the past through that conversation. And shubman promised to try his best and improve more in that aspect of his. They talked for a while before declining the call.
Shubman on the other hand was still in the memories of the past. The memories of the time when he first came in the national team. There was no Ishan there at that time. He felt guilty to be getting in the team before Ishan could. He felt unworthy of being there.
But Ishan had always been supportive. To him shubman's achievement were dearer then his own. But that is Ishan for you, he gets happy in everyone's happiness.
