Third Person's POV:
It was the year 2022 when Shubman realized that there was something in Ishan's life he did not know about. Whenever he sat and thought about it, the first thing that came to his mind was the phone call on his birthday at K. L. Rahul's farmhouse.
Shubman tried okay; he did try not to overthink about it, but he just couldn't let go of this feeling. He wanted to ask Ishan about it, but he feared that he would look a bit too clingy if he did. So, he let that thought go.
"What are you doing tomorrow?" Shubman asked Ishan over the phone. They were both in Mumbai at the moment, and how could they not meet? Hence the planning. "Kal milna hai kya?" ishan asked. Strange. There was nothing like 'kal milna hai kya?' between them. They just met. No questions were asked.
"Busy hai?" Shubman asked. "Nahi jaan, tere liye kya busy. Kal milna hai toh bol baaki koi plan nahi banaunga." Ishan said, and it was strange again. baaki plan? The first thing Ishan always did when they were at the same place at the same time was to meet Shubman. The first thing.
"Ishan. Koi issue hai kya? I feel like you are hiding something from me." Shubman decided to finally ask before it ate him up. "nahi re. Kuch nahi." And after thinking for a long while, Shubman decided to speak again. "Ishan," Shubman said. There was anticipation in the air. "Who is she?" he said. "who?" Ishan knew who he was asking about.
"alright. Good night." Shubman said he was cutting the call right after. Ishan couldn't say anything at all. Shubman didn't let him. There was a strange feeling in his heart. He told himself that it hurt because his best friend didn't trust him enough to share things. Yes, that is what it was. (yeah definitely.)
Shubman was behaving like a toddler right now, and he knew it. He did not receive any of Ishan's calls after that good night. He did not meet Ishan either. "Shubman, can you please call Ishan?" That guy is worried. Worried with a capital W, okay? Call him." Shaheel had called Shubman because Ishan was calling her since her dear brother decided to ignore Ishan's calls.
"Bye, di." He said this before canceling the call. Why would he call her? he thought grudgingly and decided to sleep some more. When he woke up, Ishan was sleeping right beside him. He thought that it was some weird dream and that he needed some food in his stomach, but when he got up from the bed, the Ishan on the bed woke up too.
"shubmannnnnn. Tu uth gaya!!" Okay, not even the Ishan in his dreams can be as cheerful as that. It was definitely the real Ishan. But wait, how did he come into his house again? "What are you doing here?" Shubman asked, shocked. Was the security at his house that weak?
"What do you mean? What am I doing here? You did not even pick up my calls. Of course, I had to come here in person." Ishan said, looking hurt. Shubman decided to ignore it and continue his food hunt again. "You want me to make something for you?" ishan said. "You know how to cook?" Shubman looked at him doubtfully.
"First you ghosted me and refused to talk to me, and now you are doubting my cooking skills?" Ishan said, looking hurt again. "Stop the drama," Shubman said he was sitting at the dining table, waiting for Ishan to make something for him.
After some time, Ishan came out with a bowl. Ishan had made him noodles. The instant noodles. Shubman wanted to slap someone right now. cooking skills? For instant noodles? Wow, the audacity of this man! Shubman still begrudgingly took a bite. He instantly thanked every god up there that Ishan made nothing too fancy.
How can someone fuck instant noodles up? Shubman thought. He wanted to spit it out and never look at instant noodles again, but looking at the bright face of Ishan Shubman ate those noodles. He ate it till the last drop. "It was amazing, wasn't it? see, I am a good cook." Ishan said proudly, and Shubman smiled involuntarily.
