(GM/n)= Grandmother's Name
(GP/n)= Grandpa's Name
It had been over 5 years since you had left home, and you were absolutely miserable. Your body ached and groaned as you ran down the empty streets of Fukuoka, but you didn't dare to stop.
Early morning sun bled over the skyline, the harsh rays shining in your face. You ducked your head down to avoid them and bolted around a corner.
Behind you, your grandparents followed in a sleek black car. It gained speed and pulled up next to your small form. Your grandmother rolled down her window, gazing at you with scrutinizing eyes.
"(Y/n). I do hope you are going to pick up the pace. It's nearly 6 AM, and we are going to be late to our meeting if you don't hurry up morning training."
Biting back the venom that rose in the back of your throat, you nodded curtly and ground your teeth together.
Go die in a hole, old woman.
"Yes, grandmother." You huffed between laborious breaths.
Activating your quirk, a dull pain rose on the bottoms of your feet and the tips of your fingers. You ignored the ache and sped up, your quirk aiding you with its power. The car was left in the dust as you ran, not bothering to speed up to catch you.
In the car, your grandmother smiled triumphantly. In the last 5 years, she had molded you into a prodigy. You were only 10, and yet you rivaled some of the Hero Associations biggest rising heroes. She couldn't be more proud. In her mind she could see you as a pro; the newest, youngest #1 Hero. The dark shadow watching over Japan, the best of the best.
"(GM/n), don't you think we should let (Y/n) rest?" Your grandfather watched you speed off with a concerned gaze. "If she's too tired, she might not perform well enough in front of the Association's recruits."
"Nonsense, (GP/n)." She hummed, sitting back in her seat. "(Y/n) needs to learn now to pull through an energy drain. You should know this, with your quirk and all."
"I know and understand, but she's only 10, dear. She shouldn't be pushing herself this hard."
"If I remember correctly, you encouraged early training upon our own children." She shot back. "(Y/n) is no different."
His eyebrow twitched in annoyance. I learned my lesson! Your grandfather wanted to shout, but he didn't. Your grandmother was too hard to negotiate with. No matter how hard he tried, she always had something to retort back and shoot him down with.
You made it back to the compound by the time the sun had fully risen. The dark ink on your hands had grown exponentially since you had began using it; the ink staining well past your elbows and knees. You were in immense pain, heavily fatigued, and just overall done with morning training. Slowly the (s/c) tone of your skin returned to your arms and legs as you deactivated your quirk.
Your grandparents hadn't arrived yet, so you took a moment to slide down the outer wall of the compound and rest. The black t-shirt you wore was soaked through with sweat, but you couldn't complain, this was only the tip of the iceberg.
A cool breeze helped ease your burning skin. It was still winter, just about to turn spring. In a week, it would be the fifth anniversary of when you left home.
You missed home dearly; (L/n) compound was terribly dreary and dark. It was more or less a traditional japanese home, save for some factors like the bath and training center. Your grandparents were the only ones to occupy it before you arrived, Now it was just the three of you.
Thoughts of your old friends plagued your mind. Did they miss you? Did they ever think about you? When you went home, would they remember you? You huffed. You promised that you would watch Bakugo and Midoriya become heroes, that promise you fully intended to go through with. You also had a rematch game to play with Toya. His card was slipped behind your (style) phone case as a sort of good luck charm.
