Upon returning home, you were greeted by the smiling faces of the entire nuclear (L/n) family. Your grandfather, aunt, uncle, and hell, even your grandmother greeted you with a smile!

"(Y/n)!" Your aunt squealed, picking you up and twirling you around. "We heard about your quirk! Oh, oh, this is such a happy day!"

"Sis, put her down." Your uncle sweatdropped "You're suffocating her."

You were, in fact, being suffocated by your own aunt. Sometimes she didn't realize her own strength when it came to hugs.

"Oh!! So sorry kiddo!" She released you from her death-grip, the air promptly returning to you lungs.

"I think I can speak for all of us when I say," your grandfather rested a hand on your head, "We're proud of you, (Y/n)."

You smiled gratefully at all of them. Tears pricked the corner of your eyes, but you promptly wiped them away.

"Thank you, everyone." You bowed slightly. "I promise I won't let you down."

"We know you won't." Your grandmother spoke. She walked towards you and took your hands in hers. "Show me your quirk."

Hesitantly, you activated your quirk. You didn't want to accidentally harm your grandmother. The dark ink enveloped your hands once more, morphing your fingers into claws. Your family took in a collective breath.

"It- It's like... Dark Horse's quirk." Your aunt breathed. "Different, but the resemblance is uncanny."

"I didn't realize-" Your father started. "What was his quirk again?"

"Void Monster. His quirk was named Void Monster." Your uncle answered.

"I-it seemed like (Y/n)'s quirk was like mine." your mother mumbled. "I stand corrected."

"Of course not." Your grandmother wore a large smile on her face, "It's not your blood that has done this, (M/n). (Y/n) is a pure (L/n). Pure as can be. (Y/n), dear, tell your grandmother. What is your quirk's name?"

"S-static Void, grandmother." you lied. "My quirk's name is Static Void."

"Static Void..." She sighed. "Oh how lovely. My dear, from this day on, you are truly a (L/n). I'm so proud of you."

For the first time in your life, your grandmother pulled you in for a hug. You had never been shown affection once from that woman. Never had you experienced such a warm show of love.

But you knew that behind that lovely gesture was a cold hard truth;

You would never be free from your grandmother's iron grip.

You would never be able to reach her expectations.

You were stuck in the dark confines of her grip-

Forever.

Despite the sinking feeling plaguing your mind, the rest of the day went swimmingly. Your family set up a nice dinner in the courtyard of your home. It was mostly casual, save for your grandmother constantly scolding your grandfather for slouching and your aunt for eating like a 'pig.'

You could tell that your mother didn't like being in the presence of your grandmother. She was overly polite and quiet in her presence, which was very odd since she was normally very bold and bright. You didn't really know what her deal was, but you sympathized with her silently. Being in the same vicinity of your grandmother was emotionally and mentally draining.

When dinner was over, you were promptly sent to bed. The only reason you were given was "The adults are going to discuss some items that you do not need to be present for."
