"So... Um, How have you been, (L/n)-san?"

After you had gotten your food, you and Midoriya retreated to the park. It was already dark out, but a few overhead streetlamps illuminated the park nicely. Midoriya and you took a seat on the swings.

You took a large slurp of your ramen, almost moaning at the taste of junk food. Midoriya sweat-dropped, feeling as if he was intruding on an intimate moment.

Oh ramen, how I've missed you so.

You took another big bite before answering Midoriya.

"Ah, sorry, Mido-kun. It's been awhile since I've had food like this." You gestured to the bowl with your disposable chopsticks. "I've been well! Training and whatnot, y'know? Just came back into town for a couple months. How have you been? How's Inko-san?"

"W-well, uh, things have been pretty good since we've last seen each other... My mom's doing well, she's the same as usual. I know she'd love to see you again!"

"That's great to hear, I'll have to stop by sometime to say hello." You smiled softly. "You still keeping those journals? The ones about heroes?"

"Oh yeah! I've still got them. I've added almost eleven more since you've been... Y'know, gone." He rubbed the back of his neck.

"Ah, yeah." You opened a bag of chips. "I've been gone for a long time then, huh?"

Midoriya frowned. "Yeah... You've been gone 10 years, (L/n)-chan."

"Crazy, isn't it?" You stared up at the night sky. "It's been a long time, but those years just whizzed right on past... For what it's worth, I've missed you, Mido-kun. I'm glad you remembered me."

"I-, I missed you too, (L/n)-chan. I'm happy you're back." Midoriya smiled softly.

A comfortable silence fell between the two of you. You happily munched on your chips, swinging back and forth aimlessly. All of a sudden, you remembered what Viz had warned you about. Midoriya was about to begin his journey to be a hero, and that journey was going to be a cruel and painful one.

Well, while you were here, you might as well start working towards your goal:
Being as supportive as you could be.

"Hey, Midoriya." You hummed. "You still want to be a hero, right?"

He jolted up. "O-of course! I want to become a hero more than anything!"

You chuckled softly. "Then you remember what you promised me when we were kids, right? That you'd become a hero?"

It took him a second to remember, but he eventually nodded. "Yeah. I remember that."

"Don't go back on that promise, okay?"

Midoriya opened his mouth to question why you were reminding him of this, but something told him not to dwell on it. So he just nodded, smiling.

"I won't, (L/n)-chan. I promise."

"Good. Now here, eat this bag of chips. You're gonna need the calories."

"Huh?"

Eventually, you and Midoriya parted ways. Thankfully you managed to get his number before he left, which was now saved in your contacts as "Mido-Kun."

Your walk home was fairly quiet. The roads were devoid of any other people, save for a couple late-night shadows passing you by. Your house was also quiet, but that was nothing new. Your parents were probably working night patrols again. They'd definitely be exhausted by the time they got home.

Once you were sure your house was safe and secure, you trudged upstairs into your bedroom. You changed out of your hoodie and switched it out for a baggy sweater and pajama pants.
