Clarissa's POV
When you were a kid it was Halloween candy. You hid it from your parents and ate it until you got sick. As a surgeon you take as much of the good as you can get because it doesn't come around nearly as often as it should. Cause good things aren't always what they seem. Walking into Dorie Russell's hospital room, I see her husband Tom on his cell phone while Mama's checking on Dorie. She's pregnant with quintuplets and needs Mama's help to bring them into the world.
"Dorie, this is my daughter Dr. Clarissa Grey-Montgomery. She will be working with us on this case." Mama tells Dorie who gives me a smile when Izzie enters the room. Izzie's doing scut for Mama, Virginia and Amelia because of the sexual abuse she has done to me.
"Oh, the more the merrier." Dorie says.
"Apparently." Izzie snarks.
"How far along are you Mrs. Russell?"
"Thirty-two weeks." Dorie says.
"How long is the normal gestation period?" Mama asks me.
"Forty weeks but with twins thirty-six weeks is considered full term so with quints thirty-four weeks is considered extremely successful."
"Just give him some acetaminophen. It's, it's in the medicine cabinet." Tom says into the phone.
"I plan on going on thirty-six weeks. No one is leaving this uterus until I say so." Dorie says and I couldn't help but smile.
"Power of positive thinking, huh?" Mama asks Dorie with a smile.
"Well that, bed rest and all the medical care you can give me." Dorie tells her when Tom hangs up and walks over to his wife.
"Adam's got a fever which means soon they'll all have fevers. I don't think my mum's going to manage." Tom tells his wife.
"Ah we have four year old boys at home. Adam, Oliver and Graham." Dorie tells us.
"Triplets? You already have triplets? I guess when you take those fertility pills you should read the fine print." Izzie says, causing Mama to glare at her.
