Clarissa's POV
Entering Denny's room, I see his eyes closed which makes me believe that he's asleep.
"Hi there little Einstein." Denny says while opening his eyes and my eyes widen in surprise.
"I thought you were asleep."
"Nah, I don't sleep in hospitals. Scared I'll never wake up." Denny says while I get out my stethoscope and check Denny's heartbeat.
"Can I ask you something personal?" Denny asks me.
"Yes you can."
"That guy Alex. You with him?" Denny asks me and I make a face of disgust. Alex is a good looking man, but he's my brother and that's it.
"No. Alex is more of a big brother to me. Besides I am dating a wonderful woman. How do you know Virginia?"
"Our mothers are childhood friends. So we were raised as siblings. She told me about how smart you are and how kind you are. That you're the best doctor she's seen in a long time." Denny tells me.
"At least you are getting a new heart while Alex's patient is getting surgery to remove the book he ate."
"So how are old are you little Einstein?" Denny asks me.
"Twenty but I will be twenty-one on Valentine's Day."
"Good. I'll have to get you a gift for giving me the best service." Denny tells me.
"You do not have to do that. I am just doing my job and besides I enjoy your company. How are you feeling about this?"
"Been waiting for this a long time you know? You're going to open up my chest, take out my heart and replace it with another one. What if something goes wrong?" Denny tells me.
"Dr. Burke is the best and just focus on the fact that you are getting a new heart." Preston enters the room and gives me a smile before turning to face Denny.
"Preston Burke. My favourite cardiothoracic surgeon." Denny greets Preston.
"Oh, your only cardiothoracic surgeon, but thanks. I will be on the phone with Dr. Crowe as the organ recovery progresses. Want to make sure that the heart stays viable, isn't damaged while the other organs are perfused. We'll have you in the OR and if it is a go, we'll start the procedure before she even gets back." Preston says before handing me that chart.
"Hey Clarissa. I'm getting a new heart." Denny says with a smile and I smile back.
"You are getting a new heart. I will see you later." Denny has a sad smile and I take his hand.
"I will be back to see you after your surgery. I promise Denny."
"I know Clarissa." Denny says before I let his hand go and leave the room.

Amelia's POV
Clarissa and I both enter Roseridge and walk over to the front desk. Alex told me what Clarissa told him about the sexual assault Izzie did to her. I was going to kill Izzie so Virginia suggested that Clarissa and I take the rest of the day off.
"Clarissa and Amelia." Nurse Winona Night greets us as she walks over.
"Hi Nurse Night. Amelia and I got the rest of the day off so we thought we would come visit Ellis." Clarissa says with a smile.
"Of course. She's in the sitting room and in good spirits. Visitors really cheer her up." Nurse Night says before wandering off and we headed into the living room to see Derek talking with Ellis. Clarissa had her hands clenched into fists and a look of pure rage directed at him.
"Get away from my family." Clarissa says before punching Derek in the face, causing my eyes to widen in shock.
"What the fuck? I was authorized to be here." Derek tells Clarissa.
"No you are not." Nurse Night walks over and I glared at her.
"Did you allow him to visit Ellis? Especially after Dr. Meredith Grey didn't put him on the list?"
"Yes but he is the best doctor." Nurse Night says while Clarissa calls Meredith on her phone.
"Mommy, you need to come now! Derek is here and Nurse Night allowed him to see Ellis! Yes okay I will let them know." Clarissa says before hanging up the phone and looks over at them.
"You two are getting into trouble because the only doctors allowed here are Dr. Virginia Crowe and Dr. Richard Webber. I am getting security." Clarissa says before walking away and I glared at the two of them.
"You're dead Derek and as for you Nurse Night, you'd be lucky to get a job as a cashier at McDonald's after what you did." Security arrives and drags the two of them out of the building while I go calm down my girlfriend. Clarissa was taking deep breaths while Ellis was wiping her tears.
"She's always been prone to bursts of anger, but I've never seen her hit someone before." Ellis tells me while playing with Clarissa's hair.
"Nurse Night broke the rules and brought that man here without permission. My so called brother does this to hurt Clarissa for turning him down." Meredith runs into the room and hugs Clarissa who begins sobbing.
"I'm going to kill him. Derek's doing this to break Clarissa." Meredith says.
"I'll help you."
"He can mess with me, but not Ellis. Never Ellis." Clarissa tells us.
"He can't mess with you angel. Though I can't believe you punched him." Clarissa smiles while laying her head on Meredith's shoulder.
"She punched Izzie for badmouthing mom. Clarissa and mom always had a better relationship than I did with her. I think it's because they understand each other in ways that I'll never be able to." Meredith tells me.
"Clarissa has that effect on people, especially me." Clarissa smiles before grabbing my hand and squeezes it.
