Bound To Fall:Short story P.2

The art class quickly resumed. The students focused on completing their drawings. As the time ticked by, the teacher made his rounds. He paused to observe each student's work.

When she reached Tsukishima's easel his eyes widened in pleasant surprise. "Tsukishima-kun, this is absolutely incredible! Your attention to detail and use of shading is remarkable"

Tsukishima nodded stoically. A hint of pride shone in his eyes at the teacher's praise.

The teacher then turned his gaze to (Y/n)'s drawing and his expression morphed into one of genuine awe. "And (Y/n)-chan this is simply stunning. The way you've captured the essence of these characters is truly impressive."

(Y/n) felt her cheeks flush at the compliment. A small smile graced her lips. "Thank you, sensei" she replied, her voice barely above whisper.

The teacher beamed. His gaze shifted between the two standout students. "You know I have idea. How about the two of you take on special assignment?"

Tsukishima and (Y/n) exchanged a curious glance. They were both intrigued by the teacher's suggestion.
"I'd like the two of you to draw each other" the teacher announced, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "And then we'll have the class vote on whose portrait is the best. What do you say?"

Tsukishima's brows raised slightly. (Y/n) felt her heart skip a beat at the prospect of drawing the tall enigmatic boy. Nevertheless, they both nodded in agreement. Their competitive spirits were piqued.

"Wonderful!" the teacher exclaimed clapping his hands together. "You'll have the rest of the class period to work on your portraits. I can't wait to see the results."

As students around them began to whisper excitedly Tsukishima and (Y/n) once again locked eyes. A silent challenge passed between them. Both were determined to showcase their artistic talents and emerge victorious in upcoming competition.
The classroom fell into a hush. The sound of pencils scratching against paper was the only indication of their focused efforts. The other students watched with bated breath. They were eager to see the outcome of this unexpected artistic showdown.
Tsukishima and (Y/n) glanced at each other, an unspoken understanding passing between them. They knew that this impromptu portrait assignment would require more than just the remaining class time to complete.

"Tsukishima-kun would you like to work on our portraits during the break?" (Y/n) asked, her voice soft but confident.
Tsukishima considered her proposal for a moment. His golden eyes studied her face. "That would be best" he replied, a hint of agreement in his tone. "We'll need more time to do this properly."

The two students agreed to meet up during lunch break. Both were eager to capture essence of their classmate on paper. The remaining class time flew by. The students buzzed with excitement for the upcoming art competition. As the bell rang signaling the start of lunch break, Tsukishima and (Y/n) gathered their art supplies. They made their way to a quiet corner of the courtyard. The gentle breeze and peaceful atmosphere provided the perfect setting.

(Y/n) couldn't help but feel a flutter of nervousness. She set up her easel and prepared her materials. The thought of drawing Tsukishima with his sharp features and piercing gaze, was both thrilling and daunting. Tsukishima seemed completely at ease positioned in front of (Y/n)'s easel. His long fingers drummed against the wooden surface. He observed her intently his golden eyes studying her every move, as if committing every detail to memory.

"Alright let's get started" (Y/n) said. Her voice was slightly shaky. She took a deep breath, steadying her hand and began to sketch the outline of Tsukishima's face.

As she worked the two fell into a comfortable silence. The only sound was the soft scratching of pencil on paper. (Y/n) found herself becoming lost in her task. Her focus narrowed to the task at hand. Tsukishima, on the other hand remained still and composed. His gaze never wavered from (Y/n)'s face.

Occasionally their eyes would meet. A spark of understanding would pass between them. It was as if they were communicating without words. Each lost in the other's presence.

Time seemed to slow down as they poured their hearts and souls into their respective drawings. The world around them faded away, leaving only the two of them and their shared artistic endeavor.

As the lunch bell rang signaling the end of their break, both Tsukishima and (Y/n) reluctantly put down their pencils. Their portraits were only partially complete. They exchanged a silent nod an unspoken agreement to continue their work after classes were dismissed for the day.

The anticipation of the final reveal had never felt so palpable. The two artists prepared to showcase their masterpieces to the class. The bond they had forged through this creative collaboration had only strengthened. They knew no matter the outcome they had both emerged victorious.
