Deep within the halls of the senate court, amidst the complexities of politics, and international relations, a high-stakes investigation unfolds. Senator Blaire George Solace, a seasoned political figure, is leading a sensitive case involving a Chinese-Filipino woman, Mayor. Alice Leal Guo, who is suspected of being entangled in illicit POGO hubs ang spying activities due to her mysterious background. As Blaire investigates further, within the few senators around the court, she uncovers a web of intrigue linking Alice's life, raising more simply questions than answers.
"Saan po kayo pinanganak?"
"Kinilala po ba ng DepEd ang naging pag-aaral n'yo?
"Saang home-school provider po ang teacher n'yo?"
Mga tanong ng senador na tanging
"Your Honor, hindi ko po alam", Your Honor, hindi ko na po maalala" lamang ang tanging maisagot sa kanya.
Sen. Blaire sigh in disbelief, napasandal na lamang sa kanyang kinauupuan while her co-senators are reviewing Mayor Alice's documents.
While the room is shivered in hectic evaluations, Sen. Blaire scanned the faces in the room, her gaze unexpectedly locked onto Alice's as the Mayor gazes her as well. The intense connection of their eyes spoke. An unspoken dialogue
of curiosity that seemed to transcend the formalities of the setting. Blaire felt an unfamiliar, yet undeniable, an intriguing blend of suspicion and attraction that left her momentarily breathless. The encounter brief as it was, marked the beginning of a complex and dangerous dance between them.
Her concious bring her back to reality when Sen. Risa tap her.
Sen. Blaire's Pov:
"Sen. Blaire, are you okay? Kanina ka pa tulala." She asked in a concerned manner. "I'm okay, tita... just zoning out." Sen. Risa, a friend of mine though I treat her as my nanay-nanayan sa loob ng senate. Mas matanda siya sa'kin ng 19 years and yes, I'm 40 years old and I'm the youngest senador in the room.
"This is quite intetesting ha... wala s'yang alam sa pagkatao n'ya, looks very suspicious." Sen. Risa stated to Sen. Blaire with a bit of frustration. Sen. Blaire just shook her head
As I get back analyzing the documents, I can't stop looking at Mayor Alice once more. The feeling I felt after our eyes met leaves me a sudden attraction for the mayor.
"What's that, Blaire? Why are you glancing at her secretly? Nako pag ikaw ha nahulog d'yan... pero what's this feeling building me up kase? urghh kainis" Sen. Blaire stated in herself as she continue to read the papers.
The senate hearing continue. It's still not going so smoothly for the Mayor's replies to our raised questions causing for the other senators to get annoyed to the mayor especially Sen. Risa along with Sen. Win.
After the argues and questions inside the senate, everyone leaves and headed to their way out.
I made my way sa cr para mag re-touch then suddenly may lumabas sa cubicle behind me. It's Mayor Guo. She quickly smiles looking at me through the mirror.
"Good evening po, Sen. Solace.'
She greeted in a calm tone as she make her way to the sink to wash her hands.
"Hm... good eve rin, mayor." I keep my poker face with a cold manner.
3rd Person Pov:
Silence filled the room as the both of them stood up in front of the mirror, minding their own business. Sen. Blaire decided speak causing the mayor to look at her.
"Sana sa next hearing, maalala mo na ang pagkatao mo, mayor. Sagutin mo kami ng maayos... yung walang halong kasinungalingan. Your recent statements were misleading and unacceptable." Sen. Blaire claimed still facing the mirror.
"Hindi ko po kayo niloloko, madam senator. I did what I have to do and I'm telling the truth po" Alice replied to the senator's accusation to her's.
This time, the senator face her and smirk to the latter. "Come on, mayor. Wag mo na kaming pahirapan. We both know naman na until the very end of the day, lalabas at lalabas din ang sikreto mo."
"I'm sorry po madam senador, pero mukang mas pinapahirapan n'yo lang po ang sarili n'yo kung pipilitin n'yo humanap ng pinapaniwalaan n'yong imporamasayon tungkol sa akin." Mayor Alice replied still remaining her calm. "Mauna na po ako. See you po next hearing" She added. She's making her way out but the senador step closer on her way causing the mayor to step back as she bumped to the wall. She tried to escape but the older trapped her.
The senator with annoyance and anger build her up. "Don't play games with me, mayor. I'm so pissed off na sa'yo. Kapag hindi ko nagustuhan ang maging sagot mo, if you don't come clean sa next hearing, I will make sure your lies are exposed for everyone to see. I'll dig up every piece of dirt on you and I'll damn make sure that this will be broadcast to the public!" She can't help herself but to shout. Hindi n'ya gustong sigawan ang maamong babae na kaharap n'ya ngunit ang galit na namumuo sa kanya ang nanaig.
"There's no need to raise your voice. I'm cooperating sa inyo pero kayo lang ang sadyang hindi nakikinig." Alice still remain her calm facing the close senator infront of her.
"Oh really? Well, tignan natin. You'll face not just political fall out but personal disgrace. Don't fucking underestimate what I'm capable of!" The senator interrupted claimed to the mayor.
Ay shocks... ganda mo sana sen. kaso para ka palang dragon kapag nagalit. The mayor speaks to her thoughts before she continue."Are you threatening me?" Alice replied trying to maintain her compsure.
"I'm warning you. You have one chance to fix this. Fail to do so, and I will unleash everything I have against you." Sen. Blaire coldly response.
Now they face each one closer, the tender glances they one shared were now charged with fierce intensity, transforming their affectionate eyes into a battleground of simmering anger.
Umatras ang senador at tinanggal ang kanyang kamay na nakahawak sa pader na naging dahilan ng pagkaka trapped ng mayor. She get her things and head out to the restroom, Sen. Blaire glanced back to see Mayor Alice's tearful eyes, a sight that cut her anger and filled her with a pang of guilt for what she just said to the younger woman as she made her way down the hallway.
