Chapter 2: The Latter's Reflection

As the Senator reaches her office, napatigil s'ya sa labas. The hallway is quiet, she let out a deep sigh trying to calm her racing thoughts. The image of Mayor Alice's startled face flashes in her mind. Despite the anger that drove her, Sen. Blaire can't shake the feeling that she might have overstepped.

"Did I go too far? Masyado ata akong nagpadala sa galit ko." She muttered to herself. 

She enters her office, sits at her desk and massage her temples. Her mind replays the confrontation, her voice echoing with a harshness she now regrets. She thinks about Alice for how she might have felt attacked and helpless. 

"She's just protecting her position. Maybe I should hadled that differently." Blaire stated sighing deeply. "Pero obvious naman kasi, she's literally lying. Pero what if hindi naman? Ewan ko sa'yo Blaire patakot-takot ka pa hindi mo naman magagawa 'yun." Blaire stated as she furrowed her eyebrow while tapping her desk with her pen. 

She's looking at the window, reflects her actions towards the mayor. The guilt of pressure begins to settle in, reminding her the despite of her righteous anger.

"I need to find a better way to handle this... for both of our sakes." She noted softly. Suddenly Sen. Risa came without even knocking. Sen. Blaire quickly fixed herself and smiled to the senator.

Blaire's Pov:

As usual, hindi na naman s'ya kumatok, kung hindi ko lang mahal 'to eh, nasigawan ko na 'to.

"Tita, you could've just knock... we talk about this na po 'di ba?" Pagsalubong ko sa kanya but I still remained calm and keep the smile on my face showing respect to the older. 

"I'm sorry, nagmamadali kasi ako eh" Nagmamadali? Hinhin n'yo nga kumilos eh. Sige, kunware na-convince ako.

"Ano po ba 'yun, tita? Something important?" Tanong ko habang madahang isinandal ang aking katawan sa aking office chair. 

"Nagugutom ako eh. Can we eat sa labas? Don't worry, treat mo." Aba. kapal ha konti na lang itatakwil ko na 'tong nanay-nanayan ko. Somehow I just giggled at her response. 

"Joke lang, ito naman. Anyway, bakit parang malalim ang iniisip mo, anak?" She asked as she stood in the couch across my office. 

I replied and sigh before I speak. I stated everything happened on us inside the comfort room, that I threatend her with my words. "Pero tita Risa, I feel guilty sa ginawa ko eh... do you think, tama po ang ginawa ko? Well I can't help myself na sigawan s'ya, ayaw n'ya talaga umamin eh although obvious naman na may tinatago s'ya."

"Ginawa mo 'yon?" She sarcastically laughed that made my face a little furrowed. "A-anong pong nakakatawa, tita?"

"Alam mo bang pwede ka n'yang kasuhan ng Penal Code under the Article 282 for threatening her? That's not a good idea, anak pero slay ka do'n ha hahahaha" She continue to laugh. I just face palm because of the senator's emotion though she has a point, it's not a good idea pero hindi ko mapigilan yung galit ko eh. 

After a while, our conversation continued, since tita Risa is the most trusted person I know, I confessed about the sudden gaze me and the mayor shared earlier.

"Tita, alam mo ba, nagkatinginan kami ni Mayor Alice kanina. I don't know pero my world stops in our moment kanina. I can't explain the feeling po eh, it's my first time to felt that after a year. I like her beauty, sayang mukhang palpak eh" I stated to her while playing on my pen.

"Nako, nako, Blaire ha hindi pwede 'yan. You're taking yourself at risk. She's an enemy, you can't fall for her..."

"Tita, I'm not falling for her, and I promise na hinding hindi ako magkakagusto sa kagaya n'ya. I'm just amazed of her beauty, 'yun lang." My voice muttered while looking away.

"You know, once na nakaramdam ng unfamilliar beat ang puso, it can't be undone. Slowly, you'll get to know the person na itinitibok n'yan, and one day, you'll wake up realizing you're already in love." She said while standing up making her way to the door.

"Oh s'ya sige ne, uuna na 'ko, maiwan na kita. Wag mo kalimutang kumain ng dinner katulad ng ginawa mo ha! Naku ospitalin ka nanaman." She scolded me like a mother well for me, she is naman talaga, for the way she care for me and spoiled me like her child.

"Yes po, tita, promise."  I raised my right hand and smiled like a child promising to their parents to clean their room after being scolded.

Tita Risa smiled and leave. I left out thinking again and taking a back sa sinabi n'ya. Does it like... Love Grows, ganun? Yuck, I would never fall in love for a person like her, babae pa? I'm straight kaya. 

Weh?

Pumasok ulit sa kanyang isipan ang nangyari kanina. With a heavy heart, she decides to draft a formal and professional follow-up hoping to address the issues at hand without letting her emotions get the best of her.

"Kamusta na kaya s'ya? I hope she get over sa kanina."

Is she?

Mayor Alice's Pov:

I went home exausted, and decided to drink a small amount of wine. While pouring my glass some drink, I remember the words that came out from the senator's. I don't want to have my greatest down-fall, ayokong sirain ako ng isang babaeng hinahangaan ko. I can't lose my job because once it did happen, everything I worked for will dissappear. Lahat ng pinaghirapan ko sa loob ng maraming taon ay mawawala na lang na parang bula.

Senator Blaire George Solace, the girl I've been admiring since pumasok s'ya sa senado. From the moment I laid my eyes on Blaire's image sa banner nila noong election campaign, I was struck by her flawless beauty. From her eyes, mezmerizing the shade of hazel, flecked of gold that seemed to spark. Her perfectly proportioned nose, giving her face a delicate elegance. Her lips, often curved into a throughtful smile during her public appearance. I couldn't help but to imagine how it feels pressing my lips againts her.

I was afraid na baka sa kabila ng maaamong paghanga ko ay mapalitan ng takot laban sa kanya. I don't want to fight her either, but I have no choice. I have to protect my image. Kahit na maging dahilan pa ito ng pagiging mag kaaway namin, pero kaya namang gawan ng paraan, 'di ba? 

"I will prove myself to you, Senator." I noted while smirking drinking my glass of wine.
