The bright glow of the skies above glowed in through the windows, there was a hustle and bustle of footsteps in the hallway. It sounded like something important was happening. Singe opened her eyes and sat up in her bed, taking in the morning glow of Hell. Singe knew that the yearly Extermination was going to occur again soon, in just a few short weeks. It was a mental workout for her to prepare for it.
Singe stepped out of bed, changed her clothes, and walked downstairs to the hotel’s lobby.
“Heya toots, how’d you sleep,” Angel Dust said as Singe walked in the room.
“Alright I guess, how about you?”
“Eh, Val had me filming all night,” Angel Dust stretched his arms as he said this
Singe’s gaze traveled to the kitchen, hunger suddenly growing inside her. Singe walked over to the kitchen and searched the fridge for something to eat, her eyes landing on a nice ripe apple. She walked back to the couch in the lobby and sat down, taking a bite out of the crispy apple.
“So, you workin’ today Angel?” Singe looked towards Angel Dust, her expression somewhat blank, but the usual tint of distance remained.
“Val’s given’ me a break, for once”
“Nice! Any plans?” Singe gave Angel Dust a high-five as he heard about his day off, “I’m free all day”
“Wanna come for a drink with me and the guys?”
“Angel!” Singe paused, chuckling quietly, “I’m fourteen, my parents would kill me!”
“She’s right y’know,” Husk chimed in from across the room, “I don’t think Charlie and Vaggie would appreciate you askin’ their kid that”
Angel Dust scoffed at the remark, smirking slightly before walking towards the door, “Alright, well, you know where I’ll be, sugar,” Angel Dust walked out of the hotel, the door swinging closed behind him.
Singe sat on the couch for a short while, only getting up to throw her apple core into the garbage can. The sun was still slowly rising over the horizon casting a soft red glow through the windows into the hotel lobby
“Mornings… always so boring,” Singe said, to no one in particular.
“I know, but try and make the most of them, kid. They give you a good chance to relax,” Husk replied from behind the bar.
Singe sighs, not expecting an answer from anyone, but also not wanting to accept Husk’s answer. Singe was the type of girl that liked chaos, yet was scared of losing those she cared about, like her adoptive parents.
Soon after this exchange, Charlie walked down the stairs, a warm smile on her face. She made her way to the lobby area, beaming with excitement.
“Heya Mom.” Singe turns around on the couch, “What’s up, you seem awful happy, even for you,”
Charlie chuckles at the sarcasm that Singe displayed, “Good morning, how’d you sleep?”
“Alright,” Singe rubs her eyes, trying to completely wake herself up, “Is Mum up yet?”
Charlie shakes her head, “Not yet, you know how she gets…” Charlie suddenly paused, as if looking for what to say, “around this time of year.”
Singe motions for Charlie to sit next to him on the couch. Charlie quickly caught on and sat down. The glow of Hell continues to brighten as the morning sun rises.
“So? How you holding up hun?” Charlie broke the silence, her eyes concerned as she looked at Singe.
“I’m, alright, I guess,” Singe sighs, “I’m always on edge when Extermination is soon.”
Charlie silently nods, taking in what Singe was saying. She wrapped her arm around Singe’s shoulder, offering a sense of comfort and protection. Singe’s expression immediately softened, her tense body calming down. The fireplace on the wall offered a calming white noise as it crackled and popped, sending a soothing wave of warm air every time it did.
Shortly after, there footsteps slowly became audible, coming from the stairs. Singe and Charlie curiously looked up to see Vaggie slowly walking down the stairs.
“Good mornin’ Mum,” Singe said, “How’d ya sleep?”
“Hey kiddo,” Vaggie paused, “I slept alright.”
“Ooh! Vaggie, I’ve got great news!” Charlie chimed in, her face filled with enthusiasm and her voice excited, “My dad got us a meeting with Heaven!”
“Grandpa Lucifer?” Singe asked, confused, “In Heaven?”
“I don’t think this is a good idea Charlie,” Vaggie’s voice was filled with anxiety, but nobody seemed to notice.
“Can I come? Please?”
Charlie ruffled Singe’s hair playfully, “Why not?”
