It had been a few days since Lute was cast down to Hell, and the effect it had on Lute was obvious. Her confident nature had crumbled and was replaced with a more meek attitude. She was clearly scared and anxious about being in a place where she has caused so much pain and suffering. Lute had been staying at the Hazbin Hotel since she Fell. There was some clear underlying tension between her and most of the other residents, especially Vaggie.

Surprisingly, Singe had been nothing but supportive and kind to Lute ever since the Heaven trial. Singe had every right to be angry, spiteful, resentful, and so much more. Yet she wasn’t. She was better than that. Singe knew that Lute, like the other Exorcists, have been brainwashed and manipulated into being ruthless bloodthirsty cold-blooded killers. Regardless of the fact that Lute mutilated her to make a point and to make her “exaclty as her Mum”, Singe was by Lute’s side and nothing but kind and helpful.

Singe walked into the hotel’s pool area. She didn’t know how to swim very well, but she did enjoy the hot tub that was next to the pool. The pool area was empty, so there was no noise other than the water lapping at the pool walls and the humming of the pump systems.

Singe lowered herself into the hot tub, and she instantly relaxed. All the stress from the last week from losing her eye and Lute Falling from Heaven quickly leaving her body. She simply sat there in the hot tub for what seemed like hours.

Singe was pulled out of her thoughts by the loud click of the pool area door opening and closing. Lute and Vaggie walked in side-by-side. They were talking as if they were freinds. Maybe they had come across comment interests again since they were both Fallen angels now.

“So you finally saw how that guy is?”

“I thought I meant something to him. The way he just threw me away was just…”

“Awful and hypocritical,” Singe chimed in.

“And sexist as fuck,” Lute continued. It seems that her Fall gave her an epiphany and showed her the wrongness of her ways.

“Ugh. Don't even tell me about it. I'm glad I Fell.”

“I think… yeah, I could say the same,” Lute looked towards Singe, who was still sitting in the hot tub, “Singe. I-... I'm sorry about what I did. If I could take it back I would but…”

Singe stepped out of the hot tub and walked over to Lute and Vaggie, “Hey. Everyone has their own beliefs, right? ‘To each their own’, right?”

Lute looked surprised that Singe was forgiving her so quickly. She underestimated the maturity level of this fourteen year old greatly.

Vaggie, sensing the tension in the room, piped up, “Hey, let's go for a swim, Lute,” Without waiting for a response, Vaggie jumped into the pool.

Lute looked down at the water and jumped in as well. Singe simply sat at the edge as her legs dangled into the pool.

Lute seemed to have fun swimming, using her wings to propel her underwater and do some unique tricks. She noticed that Singe wasn't joining them and swam over to the edge of the pool she was sitting at.

“The water's nice, kiddo. You should come on in.”

“No thanks. I don't swim much.”

A sly smile came across Lute's face as she reached out and grabbed Singe's ankle, “Too bad.”

“No, Lute wait!”

“No, don't!”

With a splash, Singe was pulled into the pool. The water was indeed nice, as Lute said. Singe was able to break the surface and grab onto the edge of the pool to keep her above the water.

“Come further out, have some fun,” Lute was still chuckling at the scene, not knowing the danger she could have potentially put Singe in.

Singe replied, gasping between words, “ No… I can't… swim well…”

Lute's expression immediately sobered and she quickly swam over to Singe, wrapping her arms around her so that she could stay afloat better, “Holy shit. Are you ok? I'm so sorry. I didn't know I-”

Lute was rambling at this point, and Singe interrupted her, “It's ok. You didn't know. I'm fine. But… let's get out of here.”

Singe had dried off and gotten changed back into her regular clothes. She walked down to the lobby and looked around. It was mostly empty, but she could see the tips of black wings hanging over the back of the couch, “Hey, Lute.”

“Oh, Singe. Hey.”

Lute's eyes were slightly red, and her wings were twitching slightly. Had she been crying? Singe walked over to the couch and sat down, “You doin’ alright?”

“Not really. I just thought that I was worth more to Adam than… ugh. He just threw me away as soon as I was an inconvenience!”

Singe sighed. She could completely relate to being thrown away the moment she wasn't needed, “I get it. I really do. My birth parents weren't the best of people.”

“How so?”

“Abusive,” Singe rolled up her sleeves to reveal multiple scars on her arms, “Beaten, abused, and used. I was five when they threw me to the streets. I lived in some alley for a few days. Being five, you don't know how to take care of yourself. I was so close to dying of starvation but someone found me and brought me to an adoption center.”

Lute could only stare. If scars created in one's toddler years lasted through childhood and into their teenage years, you knew it was bad. For someone to have their own parents inflict such horrible wounds and then throw their kid away is simply evil.

“Charlie and Vaggie were a blessing. My real parents.”

Lute suddenly understood that when Singe said that Charlie and Vaggie were her real parents she wasn't talking about biologically. She was saying that she doesn't consider her birth parents to be her true parents.

“I-... I'm so-”

“Don't be. Everyone gets screwed over at least once at some point. Me with my birth parents, and you with someone you thought was your friend.”

“Adam… I thought we- I-...” Lute's face flushed red slightly as she continued, “I thought there was something between us. I thought what we had was special. Turns out he was just using and manipulating me…”

Singe listens to Lute vent about her life in Heaven, along with how she was treated, and how wrong she was for partaking in such brutal events.

As Lute kept venting, Singe leaned back on the couch and took notice of Lute's wings. She then started brushing, cleaning, and preening them by hand, being very careful with the delicate feathers and sensitive skin.

Lute paused when she felt Singe's soft and caring touch. Instead of protesting or resisting, Lute leaned in to Singe's touch, spreading her wings to give Singe easier access.

Lute kept talking and Singe kept brushing and cleaning for hours on end. It was quite a wholesome sight, and multiple residents had to do a double-take when they saw the sight, yet not a single one could hold back a quiet ‘aww’
