Lute was back to normal, asside from her wings, which were permanently damaged from the angelic weapon that Dolores weilded. She was up and about almost as if nothing had happened. It angered Singe to know that Alastor could have healed Lute all this time, but only chose to do so when it benefited him. She chose not to tell anyone about her deal. She didn’t need anyone knowing that she didn’t own her soul.
Singe slept in very late this morning. Tomorrow was it. Only one day until Extermination. The final Extermination. This could go one of two ways, and either way, there won’t be another one after it. Either all of Hell would be erradicated or we would win, and Heaven wouldn’t even come back down to Hell.
“Hey, time to get up,” Lute’s soft, quiet voice roused Singe from her sleep.
“Hmm… Give me a bit longer,” Singe pulled the blankets over her head, trying to block out the growing glow of Heaven.
Lute sat down on the edge of the bed and rubbed Singe’s arm, “Come on. I’ve got something to show you.”
Singe’s interest was piqued when Lute apparently had something to show her. She slowly pulled the covers off her head and sat up in bed. She was initially surprised to see Lute sitting in her bed, but gave her a warm smile, “Morning Lutesy.”
“Lutesy? I didn’t know you were a flirt when you were tired,” Lute nudged Singe playfuly with her elbow.
“No! Ugh… Alastor called you that when you were out. I haven’t gotten out of my head since,” Singe tried desperately to hide a blush by rubbing her eye like she was tired, “So what did you want to show me?”
“Come on, you’ll love it!” Lute was more cheerful than usual. Ever since her Fall, Lute has been very nervous and meek, which was a stark contrast to her assertive and condescending attitude from before she Fell.
Lute led Singe down into the basement of the hotel. It was dark and damn. In fact, there seemed to be a good foot of water on the ground. A pipe had probably been leaking for some time, and nobody had been down here other than Lute.
“Is it supposed to be this dark down here? Singe was a bit nervous with the amount of water on the ground. Who knew if it got deeper, or if a pipe would burst, or if-
Singe was brought out of her anxious and panicked thoughts when Lute spoke up again, her soft voice cutting through the tension, “I’ll turn the light on in a minute. And ignore the water, it doesn’t get much deeper than this.”
Singe sighed and continued to let Lute lead her through the basement. There was a steady slope in the floor, so the water slowely but surely did get deeper, though Lute stopped when the water reached her knees.
There was a click and the lights turned on, blinding Singe for a split second. She covered her eye and groaned slightly. Lute only chuckles and waited for Singe to regain her sight.
“Ta-da!” Lute gestured her arm out to two hangers. The clothes looked very similar to Exorcist uniforms, yet they were also much different. Instead of shades of gray and white, one of them was green and purple, while the other was gold and red, “These are ours.”
Singe ran her hand down the fabric of the modified Exorcist uniforms. It was soft, yet firm under her touch. It was both very mobile, yet offered a decent amount of protection. Singe then picked up the helmet, brushing a bit of dust off the screen that made it’s face. The screen came to life in her hand, and to compliment the rest of the uniform, the eyes and mouth glowed a soft green, similar to Adam’s bright yellow.
Singe tried the helmet on and it fit perfectly. To her surprise, she could see through the screen as if there was nothing there. Singe then took the uniform off the hanger and found a dry little corner behind some random junk that was thrown down into the basement and changed into the uniform. It, like the helmet, fit perfectly, offering Singe’s usual agility with a decent amount of protection as well.
