"You, Adil, every boy—what is in her that is not in me? No one loves me, no one desires me." Placing her hand over her forehead, she cried. Baffled, Sarfaraz blinked at her.

 What happened here?

"Fa—"

"Shut up." She snapped at him. Her teary red eyes glowered at him, fist tight and her body shook with both pain and anger. She bottled up frustration.

Adil placed his hands on hips, observing Sarfaraz.

"And, why such an extreme reaction from you? Do you have feelings for her?" He arched the corner of his right perfect eyebrow.

Sarfaraz snapped his eyes at him, - "Feelings? For her? She is my best friend and as any man should, I was concerned for her." He shrugged.

Adil touched his hurt mouth and showed the blood drop on his finger, - "This? Is it just a concern? You would have murdered me. I don't think that's normal—concern."

Sarfaraz flickered his eyes at Fareeha, then to him, - "Rubbish. I have always been like this for her."

"Possessive? Jealous?"

"No. never." He turned to Fareeha on the sofa and kneeled next to her.

*******

Fareeha gasped.

Her eyes snapped open, and breathlessly she sat up on the bed. She slouched a little and held the duvet tightly against her chest. Fareeha licked her dry lips, clenching her hair. The splitting pain in her head, made her want to jump off the building.

"No way—" She murmured, and turned her head towards the right. Haya was asleep, lying flat on her back and breathing steadily. Fareeha blinked, looking around. Stars in her blurry vision made her difficult to see.

"I—can't—get—married—to that ass  face." She shook her head and checked herself. Probably, Hadiya or Haya had changed her dress to cotton Desi loungewear.

*******

A whistling tune startled her. Fareeha was about to bolt inside when a person walked in.

"Fareeha, what are you doing peeping your head out," Sarfaraz said, amusedly. She gulped shaking her head.

"Please call Haya."

"She just left with her friends." He walked in, casually dipping one hand into his cotton shorts. "Something wrong?"

"Hell, man! Everything wrong is supposed to happen today?" She looked up and sighed.

"Can I help?" He leaned a little, giving her a quizzed look.

"You will be the last person I want to take help from." She snapped. Sarfaraz was taken aback.
