Over cold coffee and snacks, Adil began the topic he had in mind, - "Dania, did Aunty approve of Sarfaraz?"
Her smile wiped off her face in an instant. She moved the straw from her mouth, keeping a gloomy face.
"Not too well." Dania held her forehead, - "You did such great work in impressing her—" She teased him with a smile. Adil blushed, lowering his head.
After few moments, he spoke again, - "Are you sure about Sarfaraz?"
"Huh?" Dania accidentally slurped on her coffee.
"I mean—" Adil passed her some handkerchief, - "if your love is strong, she will accept."
She sighed, drooping her shoulder, - "I don't know—" Dania spoke focusing on twirling the ice cubes with the paper-straw, - "My mother cheated on my dad, after which he unalived himself. Then, my ex cheated on me, and I was devastated. If Sarfaraz too—don't get me wrong—" She shifted in her seat. Adil shook his head, leaning in the chair, and shook his palm.
"He seemed to be smitten by me, which is great—but, I don't know why?" Dania shrugged, - "I mean, we accidentally met in an alley and he saved me and—just fell so madly in love with me, that he proposed to me. I mean, why me? matlab, he has had so many hot girlfriends and women surrounding him. Then what did he see in me?"
Adil carefully listened to her, and spoke after she finished, - "From being a hero and saving heroines in reel life, he got a chance to save you. Perhaps, he got a superhero complex after that? And got impressed by saving you?" He joined his fingers together on the table and grinned,- "That too a gorgeous woman like you."
Dania smiled, flipping her hair off her shoulder, - "Of course. But don't you think I will be impressed by this flattering statement?"
Adil raised his eyebrow. She continued, - "I have been hearing this complimented since— forever. So, I am immune to it."
He nodded softly. Clearing his throat, he asked,- "Why did you accept Sarfaraz?"
Dania squared her shoulder, - "You guess." She tapped her nails on the table.
"Hmm." Adil thought for a moment. Both looking into each other's eyes.
"Wohi, dating a successful, popular, and hot man. Flaunt him to your friends." He shrugged.
Dania fell back, hiding her smile with her fingers. Adil looked at her amusedly. She giggled for a second, then straightened, - "partly, maybe. But mostly because—his eyes. I don't know what is there in his piercing chocolate-brown eyes. That night, I saw him in the alley I was just drawn to those hypnotizing eyes. And—" She sighed.
Lowering her head, she fiddled with her ring, - "But lately, I don't know. His profession and the women—" Dania licked her lips, tugging behind her hair, - "you know watching him on-screen, or even rehearsal. Matlab, he said nothing was a real feeling. Still, the—you know, the mouth that kissed someone else, the hand that touched someone else—will be touching me, kissing me—it's hard to shake off."
