Kookie's POV...

“Why do you always insist on engaging in playing these games with me, knowing you’re destined to lose?” Jade inquired as we busily arranged an assortment of snacks onto three trays for our customary Friday game and movie night.

“You only win because you always resort to cheating,” I retorted, lifting the two heaviest trays from the table.

“I had no idea that being beautiful could be considered as cheating, SloppyNuts,” she says, bursting into a fit of uncontrollable laughter as she reveled in the nickname she gave me a few months ago. Thankfully, she only used it when it was just the two of us.

“And who ever said anything about you being stunning?” I questioned, suppressing the urge to teach her a lesson for using the name she knew I despised with every fiber of my being.

“You tell me that every night before I go to sleep,” she exclaimed.

“And you genuinely believed me when I said that?”

“Deep down, you know you secretly wished your girlfriend could match up to my level, or maybe even be a carbon copy of me.” She teased, slapping me on my ass with her free hand just as she brushed past me, heading into the living room.

I chuckled, feeling the warmth of her touch on my skin. “Consider yourself lucky that my hands are occupied,” I retorted, meeting her playful gaze as she winked at me.

“And what if they weren’t, SloppyNuts? What would you do then?” She challenged me, her voice laced with intrigue.

“If you give me a moment, you’ll find out,” I replied, my words hanging in the air just as the doorbell chimed, interrupting our playful exchange.

Setting the tray down on the coffee table, I turned to Jade, a questioning look on my face. “Do we have more guests coming tonight?”

“Oh, I completely forgot to mention that I invited Jimin and Taehyung to join us tonight,” she confessed, with a hint of excitement in her voice.

“Hey, bro! You haven’t started the party without us, have you?” Jimin asked, entering the apartment with four large Domino’s pizza boxes in his hands.

“No, we just began to set up everything,” Jade tells him before walking back into the kitchen.

“When did you start drinking hard liquor?” I asked Taehyung when he entered the apartment carrying a bottle of coke in one hand and a huge ass bottle of vodka in the other one.

Shoving both bottles into my arms, he replied, “Since now,” with a hint of rebellion in his voice.

“What he means to say is that he’s been drowning himself in vodka ever since he and Maple broke up two days ago,” Jimin interjects, providing some context as to what was going on with Taehyung.

I nodded, a sense of understanding washing over me. As Jimin took the bottle of coke from my hands, I couldn’t help but feel a pang of sympathy for Taehyung. Heartbreak had a way of pushing people to find solace in different ways. Fortunately for me, my source of comfort came in the form of a feisty, petite woman who stood at five foot two, weighing one hundred and thirty-five pounds dripping wet on a good day. Jade is always there for me when I need her the most.

Jade, ever the enthusiastic presence, greeted Taehyung with a joyful squeal, enveloping him in a tight hug. Jimin, feeling left out, pouted with his arms crossed. “Why didn’t you greet me like that?” he complained.
