You're Mine Only

Am I Overreacting?

     I open my eyes the sun peeking through my curtains. I usually snooze my alarm but I had a reason to get up on time. I head to my bed room to use the restroom and wash my face. I stare a my phone, my stomach turning when the time becomes 6:37, I was about to throw my phone on the bed again before it started ringing. I smile again before swiftly answering.

      "Good morning, sorry I called late I had to ask my dad for his keys." She walks to her bathroom and props up her phone, before she starts to wash her face while I layout my outfit for the day. "Why does your dad have your keys?  "I don't know, something about sneaking out in the middle of the night to hang out my friends" 

     She walks out of her bathroom and into her seemingly huge wardrobe. "Hey, what should I wear today? She holds out an oversized black tee with a gothic cross cross in the middle and a Sp5der tee. I poke my head into the frame and see it better, "You should do the gothic cross one. And wear baggy jeans." She nods before pausing the screen to get dress. 

     "Wow, you're such a delinquent. How dare you." I let out an exaggerated gasp to shame. "My I just love people so much, that I can't be away from people for so long" I snicker to myself at the image of Jade sneaking out of the house and getting caught.  "Oh wow, that sure is something.  And, what makes today different that you want to drive?" She turns her camera back on to show off her fit. "Um, I was thinking that I could take you to school today and get some breakfast." She quickly changes the subject and starts to ask what shoes would match. 

    "Hold on, what do you mean by you're picking me up  we're getting breakfast?" I pick up the phone and showed my confused face. "Yeah be ready at 7:45." She brought me up to her vanity and started her skin care. "Jade you don't even know where I live. "She paused rubbing in her moisturizer and stared into her mirror, knowing that she messed up, "I do, I just didn't ask you for it. I sorta maybe kind of asked my dad for your address last night when we said good night" She confessed, then returned to getting ready.

     "Jade- tha- I'll be ready at 7:45" She smiled, cleaning up her space before walking to gather her backpack and keys. "I got to go but I'll call you when I'm at your place." 

     "Ok drive safe though, see you in 30" She flashes a quick grin before disconnecting. I let out a loud sight before I plopped down on my bed. "This is going too fast," I thought to myself but how can I tell her we need to take being friends slow, it's the most delusional thing that would exit my mouth. I decided to suck it up. At least she's getting me breakfast.

I mindlessly pick at my nail drowning in my thoughts until I was interrupted by a car horn. I quickly gathered my things and headed out the door, "Bye mama! I'll see you after school, I love you." I shout quickly before rushing down the driveway to meet Jade leaning on a vintage green jeep holding box of McDonalds. "Good morning beautiful, I got you a sandwich and some hashbrown's hope you like it." 

     She hands me the box before opening the passenger door allowing me to get inside. She shut the door, walked to the seat and started to drive. Ok we have 45 minutes till school starts, you wanna eat here or the school parking lot?"  

     "School parking lot, if we stay here any longer my mom will want to introduce herself." We shared a laugh before she drove away. We parked and I got out the meal, "Did you eat before?" I ask unwrapping the single sandwich, "No I didn't think about that, I was focused on you. It's fine though" I sigh, giving half of my sandwich and one of my hashbrowns to her. 

      "Here, I don't want you starving all day." 

     "You didn't have to do that, thank you though" She gave a grateful smile before biting into the hashbrown. We sat in silence during our meal. After I finished mine I spent my remaining time picking my nails and day dreaming about the worse and best outcomes of this relationship. "Why you so quiet all of the sudden?" I was knocked out of my daydreams by her question. "Sorry, I got distracted."

     "By what? What's on your mind, pretty?" 

     "Do you- do you think this relationship is going too fast. It's our second day of meeting and you're already picking me up and buying me food. I like you, I do but I don't want to get hurt. I'm not saying you'll hurt me but I've been hurt before and that relationship started out the same one this. Not that I'm saying that this relationship is already toxic it's been great so far but you never know, but it's not like I don't want to be friends to you I can see us being great friends but it's only two days, I'm- I'm sorry."

      My confession was met with silence and dumbfounded-ness. My face heated up from the embarrassment being met with nothing. I sunk into my seat and stared out the window. We sat in silence for what felt like an eternity and I could feel her eyes burning into the back of my head. I started to gather my things before leaving the car. I could feel my eyes swell up as I walk into school. I have 5 minutes to get my shit together, before I spend the next 7 hours with her. I walk into Mr. Caverns, thanking God himself no one else was in there. I collapsed into seat and laid my head down after I placed my earbuds in trying to drown out my mistakes with music.  

     I must've dozed off because I woke up to a tap on my shoulder. I looked up at the gorgeous  Jade herself who wore a concerned and sympathetic look on her face. "You'll probably want to be alone and but I need to talk to you about what you said in the car. If you're concerned that this friendship will become something more then I promise on my grandfathers life that it won't until you are ready for it to be something more. And if you want to stay as friends and only friends that's also fine with me. I just don't want to lose you."

    I stared at her who's now sitting beside me with one of her hand on my shoulder. Even when she tries to be comforting, she's still so sexy. "I really appreciate this gesture and you telling me that makes me feel more secure, thank you"

      She slowly grinned before taking me in a tight hug, "That's great, ba- Salem. I'm really happy a met you Salem."
