In yoongi's Room, 2:30 Am
His mind kept drifting back to that night, he found Jimin unconscious beside the road. A memory drew out in worry and concern, but oddly, one that spelt destiny.
It had been an extraordinarily cold night, even for late autumn. Yoongi was returning home from a late meeting when he saw a figure lying motionless by the roadside. Something had compelled him to stop, to check, despite the lateness of the hour and his pressing duties.
When he could see Jimin closely, his face deathly pale, shaking, with something tightly clutched in his hand. It was a locket. Yoongi recognized at once an insignia of the Park family, symbols of wealth and power Yoongi had always known, especially from the last five years.
"Angel," he whispered, eyes fixated on the profile of the boy in front of him, his heart already mourning. Gently, he'd pried Jimin's fingers open, unravelling them from the locket.
At that moment, he felt protectiveness and responsibility toward the young boy, his younger brother, whom he had just found out. He had carried Jimin to safety, his mind racing with questions and worries about how Jimin had ended up alone and vulnerable on the streets. Doesn't he have someone to care?
Within this time, the Doctor had nursed Jimin back to health after being infected with malaria, and Yoongi had been able to piece some of the fragments that Jimin had shared as part of his story, with information he had been able to gather from his people in the time between.
Yet in all this, Yoongi had promised to be by Jimin's side, making up for the lost times and protecting him from the dark forces that haunted their family. He had seen how much danger Jimin was in, by beforehand his parents.
_____________
After Two days
Jimin stood outside the decorative gates of the Park estate, his heart in a mix of anticipation and nervousness. He was accompanied by Yoongi, his older brother, who he thought turned into a real one now.
The gates opened to a grand driveway bordered by manicured gardens and stately trees. As much as he felt drawn to see the inside of the forbidding mansion, he couldn't help the wave of apprehension washing over him as he stepped up to the door. These were his biological parents, the Park couple who believed him lost forever.
The door was opened by a butler, and they had entered through vast halls hung with family portraits, into a sitting room, where they were at last received by the Parks.
Park Soha, graceful and poised, got up from the chair in which she had been sitting when they had been ushered in. Her eyes had shone with unshed tears. Beside her, Park Jun had stood with an expression of utter disbelief mixed with hope.
"Jimin," Mrs. Park said through her quivering voice as she gingerly moved toward him. Her trembling fingers hesitated by his face, half expecting him to disappear before her eyes.
A lump formed in Jimin's throat. This was it, what he had wanted and feared all along. He met Mrs. Park's eyes. He saw echoes of his features in there; then he couldn't hold back anymore.
"I... I'm your son," Jimin managed to say, his voice barely above a whisper. Tears welled up in his eyes as years of longing and confusion spilt over. "I thought. I thought I had lost you forever."
Mrs. Park gave him a tight embrace in her warm arms. "Oh, my baby", she released her, choked up in tears. "We thought we had lost you too... Mumma is sorry"
Mr. Park stepped forward, his eyes filled with regret and relief. "Jimin," he said softly, huskily, "We never stopped loving you; please Forgive us; we failed... I wish I hadn't trusted others"
