"I WONDER WHAT ITS LIKE IN NEW YORK," Maggie turned to Grace — who was beside her filling up pints of beer. "I bet it's nice and sunny." Grace replied in a voice that said 'I would do anything to get out of here'. Maggie couldn't blame her, the Garrison was loud with people singing and dancing.

John walked out of the private snug and came up to the bar where Maggie stood. "How are ya, Mags?" He grinned his cheeky boyish grin at her, "What do you want John?" Maggie sighed and rolled her eyes.

"Just some beer," John shrugged before placing a few coins on the counter. "As if I haven't got enough work to do!" She quietly exclaimed to herself as she took the coins and put them in the register. "Thanks, Mags." He smiled at her before walking back into the private snug where the other two Shelby brothers were.

Maggie walked in with the bucket of beer a few minutes later, "Do you want whiskey as well while I'm still here?" Maggie said as she placed the bucket of beer on the table, "No, just beer." Tommy blew the smoke from his lungs that were mostly liking black.

"Why no whiskey, Tommy? Are you expecting trouble?" Arthur asked Tommy, "Jesus Christ, Tom!" John exclaimed while twiddling the toothpick in his mouth between his fingers. "What the hell made you let them sing?" John snickered before continuing on, "It's like they're strangling cats out there!" He laughed.

Arthur chuckled and John laughed as they drank their beer. Even Tommy had a smile on his face. Maggie smiled slightly at John's laughter, "I'll strangle you now, in a moment if you keep it up," She grinned at John. "No you wouldn't!" John replied through his laughter.

"All right. Twenty is the play, come on." Arthur announced to the group, "And what did make you change your mind though, Tommy?" Arthur asked while he held up his cards to his face so no one could peek. "Here, Mags, are you playing?" John asked her as he completely ignored his two brothers.

Maggie sighed before she sat down beside Tommy, "Course I am, I'll never miss an opportunity to beat yous," She grinned, "It's about time, Tommy." John said with a small smirk. "Time for what?" Tommy responded.

"Time you took yourself a woman," John leaned back in his seat as he expected a reaction from Tommy, but he didn't get the reaction he was looking for. "I've already got myself one," He replied with a small smile as he wrapped his arm around Maggie.

"You're acting as if you're about to purchase a horse," Maggie leaned into Tommys touch slightly. God, she missed his touch. "Just play the bloody hands," Tommy rolled his eyes, "You stay the way you bloody are, Tom. Remember what Dad used to say; 'Fast women and slow horse will..'" Arthur started.

"Ruin your life," Arthur and John finished in unison. "The lot of yous are just sad because I can beat all of you in a race," Maggie giggled softly, Arthur and John laughed with her. "Right well I'm going back to work," Maggie grinned before siting up and leaving the snug.

"Come, Josephine, in my flying machine, going up she goes! Up she goes!" Maggie sang as she stood on the bar. The drunks sang with her while others danced to the words. "Balance yourself like a bird on a beam, in the air, she goes! There she goes!" Maggie sang while sitting down on the bar counter, the pub doors swung open but she didn't take notice to who walked in.

Everybody stopped singing then as they realised who walked in, men scurried to the sides of the pub like rats to make way for the men who just entered. Maggie stayed sitting on the bar counter, not being scared enough to move.

Two tall, armed men dressed like bodyguards in expensive suits with cigarette hanging from their lips stood as they tried to look intimidating. It didn't have the same effect on Maggie as it did on the drunks in the pub.
