Chapter 46
Monty
Day Six
I played another song, singing the lyrics in tune with the melody, completely unaware of how much time has passed.
I just really didn't want to think about anything. When I did, I couldn't stop, and it would become overwhelming.
“Cause I have hella feelings for you,” I sang softly.
Of course she was still on my mind. She always was. But I was able to channel my thoughts of her into music.
Which helped a little.
My systems didn't alert me to the presence behind me. It wasn't until I finished the song that I realized I had company.
I turn my head slightly, catching a glimpse of Y/n standing awkwardly in the doorway. She looked pale and tired. A mixture of curiosity and apology in her eyes.
“Monty…” she croaked, “I’m so—”
“Y/n, just…” I interrupted, conflicted. I was mad she hadn't messaged me back, but I knew it was ridiculous. “Stop. You have nothing to apologize for.” I set aside my instrument.
“But,” she began to argue, "I broke my promise…”
“I know. But it's fine.” I stood up to face her.
It was time to start the day, I suppose. It was shocking, had I really been here all day? Her shift started 10 minutes ago.
Damn.
I was impressed by how well I ignored the time, though it was accidental for the most part.
I feel like I'm forgetting something…
Y/n narrowed her eyes. “Okay, but I still need to apologize… I was waiting for you to answer, I swear, but then Luke started talking to me and I got distracted…” She went on, but I toned out the rest of her excuse.
Luke.
She ignored me for Luke.
Why did she have to go and say that?
I could feel my anger rearing its ugly face. I tried to push it down. I can't be angry that she was talking to someone else. It's ridiculous.
But damn, it was so frustrating that all these people got to talk to her and go uninterrupted, while I just couldn’t get a fuckin’ moment to tell her how I felt.
“Like I said, It's fine. Let's just forget about it…” I insisted, but I could tell her stubborn nature wasn't having it.
“You really aren't mad? Because you seem mad.” She put her hands on her hips and cocked her head.
“No, Y/n, I'm not mad. Stop pushing it. Let's just continue on with the day.”
Please, before I really do get mad.
She was good at pushing my buttons, and I was struggling to remain calm.
We could talk about it later. It'd be easier if I wasn't on the edge of losing my temper.
She wasn't going to drop it though.
A fiery spark lit up in her tired eyes, and I could practically feel her mood shift.
She was getting angry too.
“Okay, well then why did you ignore me when I tried to answer you?” she asked. “Because all night I felt like you were mad at me.” She waved her hands dramatically as she talked. “I literally slept on a bathroom floor waiting for you to answer. So if you aren't mad, then you were just ignoring me for no reason.” She finished off by crossing her arms and glaring at me.
