"We might kiss soon."
It's been a full seven days since I last received a message from Lewis. Despite my attempts to contact him, I have not received any responses. However, I completely understand that it's his home race, and he must be preoccupied with extensive preparations. I'm currently in the car with my dad and brother, heading to the race. Both of them have been eagerly anticipating this for an entire week. I must admit, I can't deny feeling excited myself. I'm also looking forward to reuniting with the group of girls at the event.
"Will I be able to touch the car?" my brother Matteo asked, his eyes full of curiosity.
"I'm not sure, Matteo. You can check the passes yourself, and maybe then you'll know," I replied, trying to focus on the traffic ahead as much as possible.
"Dad, could you please take them out? They're right there next to you in the door," I urgently requested as my dad reached into his pocket, retrieving the passes for us. While he was doing that, Matteo scooted over, accidentally bumping my arm even further.
"Matteo!" I scolded with a stern voice.
"Sorry," he said, carefully taking the passes from my dad's hand and sliding back into his seat, trying not to cause any more disruptions.
"Calm down Mimi, everything is alright, we are almost there," my dad reassured me, attempting to calm me down, but I didn't respond anymore, feeling too agitated to keep up the conversation.
As we approached the parking lot, I carefully maneuvered my car into a spot before we all exited and made our way to the entrance. The atmosphere was vibrant with people flaunting vibrant merchandise representing their favorite teams. As we entered the paddock, I couldn't help but notice the eclectic mix of people, each making a unique sartorial statement. I had spent quite some time meticulously selecting my outfit, aiming to strike the perfect balance between being stylish without appearing overdressed or too casual.
Accompanied by my younger brother and father, we made our way through the bustling crowd, our destination set on the Mercedes garage. The atmosphere was electric on that busy Sunday, with the entire paddock alive with fervent activity and palpable energy.
Upon reaching the patio, I paused for a moment before turning to my father. "I'll go inside and check everything out. Will you wait here, or would you like to explore around?" I inquired, knowing that my brother was brimming with excitement from all the sights around him.
"We'll wait here, but don't take too long," my dad replied with a warm smile.
As I walked into the bustling building, the hustle and bustle of activity immediately engulfed me. People were darting to and fro, clearly focused and determined to ensure that everything was in perfect order before the thrilling race commenced.
Surveying the scene, I sought out someone to ask for assistance without disrupting their tasks.
"Millie!" Suddenly, I heard my name and turned around to find myself face to face with Carmen.
"Hi!" I said, my face breaking into a wide smile as I greeted her with a warm hug.
"Are you looking for Lewis? They are still in a meeting. I can take you around in the meantime," she said, giving me a knowing look.
"Oh, um, sure. I'm not familiar with this place. I'll just go get my dad and my brother," I replied, turning around to locate them.
As Carmen led us on a tour through the garage, it was clear that she spent a lot of time here. I found myself walking at the back of the group, occasionally taking my place next to Carmen to allow my father and brother to fully absorb the atmosphere. Afterward, we ventured outside to explore all the different garages. My brother was on a mission to take a picture with every car in the field, and his excitement was contagious, making us all burst into laughter.
As we strolled alongside each other, Carmen couldn't resist bringing up the topic of Lewis. "So, what's going on between you and Lewis?" she asked, her curiosity piqued.
I raised my eyebrows in response. "Nothing," I said, trying to downplay the situation.
Carmen wasn't convinced. "Oh, come on. I saw the way Lewis was watching you the whole night last week. It's like he would rescue you from any fly that came your way," she said, prompting a chuckle from me.
"Don't overdo it," I replied.
Carmen insisted, "I swear, George always tells me how annoyed he gets every time Lewis talks about you. You have this guy wrapped around your finger, even if you don't see it."
Her words made me blush, but they also made me reflect. I had truly enjoyed my time with Lewis, and every interaction with him left me eagerly anticipating the next. We had only met recently, but the texts and calls we shared filled me with unparalleled joy. Each sweet moment we spent together sparked a unique sensation within me. Could it be possible that we were more than just friends?
