In the middle of the rowdy school cafeteria scene, I found myself caught in the tense moment between two girls, Wonyoung and Rosé. It seemed like they were on the verge of getting into a heated argument – again
Wonyoung's voice cut through the noise, full of exaggerated excitement as she called out to me, "Oh my gosh, Jimin! Can you help me with this algebra problem? I just can't seem to figure it out." I could tell she was putting on a show, pretending to be clueless to get my attention.
Letting out a quiet sigh, I braced myself for what was to come. It was the exact same problem she had aced during our study session not too long ago. I knew she was trying to pull me into something.
"Sure," I replied, trying to keep my voice steady despite the hint of annoyance.
Just as I was about to reach for her notebook, Rosé interjected, her tone surprisingly assertive. "Excuse me, wonyoung, but I think Jimin already helped you with that problem," she asserted, her words slicing through the cafeteria chatter.
Wonyoung's eyes widened in surprise at the unexpected interruption. "Oh, is that right?" she responded, attempting to mask her shock with a forced laugh."I guess I just wanted to hear it from the horse's mouth." The tension in the air was palpable as the two girls exchanged glances, neither willing to back down.
I could feel all eyes in the cafeteria turning to watch the unfolding drama, and I found myself wishing I could disappear into thin air. This wasn't the first time Wonyoung and Rosé's clash had played out publicly, and it was clear that neither was willing to let the other have the upper hand.
'I find that a bit hard to believe,' Rosé replied, her voice unwavering. 'You're one of the brightest students in our class.'
'Well, I just like to make sure,' wonyoung said, her voice becoming hostile. 'After all, it's not like you're the only one who has feelings for jimin.'
The cafeteria fell silent as all eyes turned to Rosé. Her face turned beet red as if she realized that her secret was out. I could see the pain in her eyes as Wonyoung's words cut deep.
'So that's why you've been clinging to him like a leech,' wonyoung sneered. 'You're just jealous because he prefers me.'
Before I could intervene, Rosé snapped.
'Jealous? Of you? Please, you're nothing but a vapid, self-centered airhead. Jimin deserves someone better than you, someone who actually values his intelligence and kindness.'
Wonyoung's face turned white with fury. 'How dare you talk to me that way?' she screamed. 'You're just a jealous nerd!'
As the verbal battle escalated, I felt a surge of anger rising within me. How could they both be so cruel? Their words were tearing each other apart, and by extension, me as well.
Finally, I couldn't take it anymore. Before I could snap, yoongi stood up and shouted for silence.
'Both of you, stop this right now!' He said, his voice echoing through the cafeteria.
Slowly, the girls fell silent, their faces still flushed with anger and tears welling up in their eyes.
'This has gone too far,' He continued. 'Wonyoung, you need to stop using jimin as a pawn in your pathetic games. Rosé, you need to learn to express your feelings in a healthy way. And both of you need to apologize to each other.'
