Chapter 4: Messing Around

Rivendell
Third person

Scott laid down in the snow. He was trying hard to steady his breathing. He slowly sat up, stretching out his wings, fidgeting with his ice cold fingers.

"You did great today, you're making a bunch of progress." Gem said, smiling down at him.

"Yeah, thank you for helping me." Scott reached out for Gem's hand, helping him stand up.

Gem smiled, "anytime Scott."

"Are you doing anything today?" Scott asked Gem.

"Nope, other than getting my outfit from my seamstress for Jimmy's dinner, I've got nothing." Gem brushed some of the snow off her outfit.

"Well then, you want to hang out for a bit longer, I've got a couple hours." Scott smiled.

"That sounds great, better than waiting for Fwhip to inevitably come around telling me he blew something up." Gem shook her head at the thought, her twin brother was always getting into some kind of trouble.

"He does that a lot, huh?" Scott laughed, imagining Fwhip running up to Gem's door, covered in smoke.

"A lot is an understatement, he does it like every ten minutes, our parents gave up on him." Gem laughed.

"Nice to know." A voice sounded from behind them. "Glad to know I'm loved." Fwhip crossed his arms in a pretend pout.

"You know we all love you." Gem said, making her way to place a cold hand on her twin's cheek.

Fwhip hugged his sister. "I love you too sis."

"Now why aren't you with your boyfriend." Gem teased snickering as Fwhip turned bright red.

"We're not dating." Fwhip turned away from the two.

"Right, you two are still in your arranged engagement, why didn't you two end that?" Scott joined in on messing with the count.

"I- we just-" Fwhip stumbled over every word, causing the other two to break out into laughter. "What about your boyfriend, Scott?" He said in an attempt to take the focus off of him.

"He has a point, but we will get to that later. Don't try to push off Scott's question." Gem said, stepping away from Fwhip.

"I- I want Sausage here." Fwhip said, hands covering his bright red face.

"I can call him." Scott teased.

Fwhip looked up at him, "I'll do it." The two burst out in laughter again.

Sausage landed next to his fiance. "What did you need, Fwhip?"

Fwhip hugged Sausage, "Their being mean."

Gem laughed again, barely able to make a sentence, "Sausage, why are the two of you still engaged." She was unable to look at her brother, clingy onto the brunette.

Sausage flushed, before finally regaining his confidence. "We respect our parents' wishes, we actually were going to get married before our parents died, and then everything happened." Sausage got quiet on the last part.

Fwhip tighten his hold on Sausage. Sausage finally wrapped his arms around Fwhip's waist. Gem and Scott looked at each other, it had been a year, but that demon still had a grasp on everyone.

Scott decided to lighten the mood, "Well I think if you're up to it we have a wedding for you two, here in Rivendell."

Gem's eyes brighten full of elation. "That's a wonderful idea Scott." She grabbed the elf's arm. "I would love to walk my brother down the aisle." She gave Scott a look.
