The Lost Girl

Chapter 3- New Beginning

After I finished telling him about the rape,the abuse,and the never ending wonder about where my mother went he sat there at a loss of words.

Then he gathered himself and spoke,"Until we find your mothers body we can't keep him in jail,but we have to keep you safe.Im offering you a new program that just started,your stay with my family and I until everything got cleared up so your safety wouldn't be at risk.If you chose to take the offer Which I highly recommend you do then we'd leave now.If you chose to decline we can't keep you safe."

Stay with strangers?I was concerned about this but it was better than being abused and raped so I decided that I would accept the offer.So I spoke,"Thank you for the offer and I'll accept it."

"Okay we must go now while your father's still in a holding cell so he doesn't figure out your location."

"Sir,I forgot to ask your name."

"Oh yes,It's Officer Burt."

"Thanks."

We got into his car which was nice looking and drove to some unknown location.I saw the trees slipping out of my view to find us in a developed neighborhood,it was pretty and it seemed like a very welcoming neighborhood.When Burt parked the car in the driveway he motioned for me to get out and go into the house.I was still in a tank top and sweatpants which was awkward because here I was meeting the people I'd live with for who knows how long looking like this.Mrs.Burt came up and hugged me before she struck up a conversation with me.

"You must be Bethany,my husbands already told me everything you poor thing.But don't worry your safe here."

"Yeah and thanks for the offer it means a lot."

"Oh it's no problem Bethany."

"Your home is very beautiful Mrs.Burt."

"Why thank you,it takes a lot of effort to keep it clean with Daniel around."

"Who's Daniel?"

"Oh I forgot to introduce you to him,he's my son."

Mrs.Burt excused herself and went upstairs as I heard her say her sons name.Looking around at this home made me realize what I've been missing from my childhood,the laughs,the happiness,the family pictures,the everything.

"So I'm Daniel,and as I've been informed your Bethany."

"Yeah but you can call me Beth,everyone does."

"Okay well are you going to turn around so I can see who I have to live with for the next while or is it going to be a mystery?"

"Oh yeah sorry."

I turned around and saw the opposite of what I expected.He looked like a bad boy.He had brown hair ,a very suiting lip ring,a jawline any girl would love,he was taller than me but not by much,and oh yeah he was pretty hot if I say so.Then Mrs.Burt entered the room.

"I see you met each other."

Daniel and I nodded in unison.

"Well Daniel can you show Bethany up to her room?"

He didn't even respond to her he just got up and I followed him.We went up a flight of stairs and found a hallway with 3 doors.

"Left room is mine,middle door is the bathroom,and the right door is your room."

Daniel disappeared into his room so I figured I'd go explore my new room.When I opened the door it shocked me,the room was big and gorgeous.The room had been set up very tastefully with a white comforter and very tumblr inspired decor.I wandered around and found that clothes were in the dresser and closet but I wondered if this was actually my room because it looked to nice.

"My parents stocked clothes for you,dinner is causal at this house so if you want you can even wear pajamas to sinner if you want but my mom wanted me to tell you that all the clothes are there for your use.And dinner is in 10 minutes ."

"Oh um thanks Daniel."

With that he disappeared again.I looked through the clothes and found a tumblr looking donut t-shirt that looked good as a night shirt and some baby pink colored night shorts in the dresser so with that I got dresser and head downstairs for dinner.This has to be a dream,like everything's so nice and my new life seems so- and that's when I missed a step walking down the stairs causing me to fall.I could feel my sore body aching and I tried to get up but the pain was too much.I saw a hand extend out to reach mine and then I realized Daniel was offering to help me up.

"I'm sorry,I didn't mean to cause a scene I just accidentally fell and yeah.Im sorry."

"It's fine,dinners ready lets go get some food."

I followed him through a maze of unfamiliar hallways to the dining room which was absolutely beautiful.The room was a light blue color and had a beach vibe to it and as I started looking around I reached the entire house was beach themed.We sat down at the table and Mrs.Burt began to place food onto the table,as she went back and forth I realized she was quite a cook because everything she made look delicious and there was so much of the food.I loved this family already,they were inviting and friendly.I was glad for once in my life that I had a new life like this my thoughts were interrupted with Mrs.Burt's voice,"Dear would you like to lead the prayer for tonight?"

I cleared my throat and began to talk,"I would love to Mrs.Brent.Dear God thank you for everything you've done today.Thank you for providing such a wonderful family for me to be with today and thank you for their love and compassion towards me.Thank you for keeping this family and myself safe today and for the future.Amen."

After that prayer we all began to eat.I noticed that this family was so much more than just a answered prayer to me but they were truly a blessing.This family took me in without an if or but.They offered their home and safety to me without knowing me and they were such great people that I was glad my life was finally on track and I got to share it with this family.After Dinner we began to clean up and I could see that Mr and Mrs.Burt were exhausted so I offered to clean up dinner for them while they relaxed.While I began to our dishes into the dishwasher I felt water splash me and as I got looking I found Daniel with the Kitchen sink sprayer in his hand that was pointed at me.That little son of a gun was going to get some revenge and it turns out it turned into a full on water fight and by the end we were both soaking wet and the dining room had still not been cleaned up yet.As Daniel went to dry off I wiped up the water off the hardwood and I cleaned up the remaining mess in the dining room as I finished I heard a voice.

"Thanks for cleaning up Beth."

"Oh your welcome Daniel it's the least I could do."

"Well seeming on how your still soaking wet you might wanna hop in the shower then dry off."

"Yeah I should."But just as he was exiting I spoke again,"Could you show me where the bathroom is again?I forgot."

"Yeah just follow me."

And that's exactly what I did.I went back to my room after he showed me where the bathroom was and grabbed some new pajamas since my old ones were soaking wet then I headed to the bathroom to shower up and dry off.I got out of the shower and let my hair air dry as I got out and when it was finally decently dry enough then I went back to my room to get a peaceful nights rest.
