I tried. That's all I can say.

Enjoy your date with most literally a space goddess:

"I don't know why I thought this would be a good idea." You looked back into the sky. "Mario told me to take you stargazing, but you must be sick of it already."

"Of course not," Rosalina retorted. "I could never be. There is very little I'd prefer over it."

"Really?"

"Really." She turned over, facing you, both of you laying under the stars. "The only thing I dislike about it, it's how lonely it gets sometimes. But that isn't a problem anymore."

It was useless to try to hide your flushing. "Doing anything with you is totally worth it."

You weren't the only one getting  flustered. "I could say the same." The blonde reached out to clench her hand in yours.

"Wanna eat something?" You sat over the blanket, looking for the basket. "I baked- well, I tried to bake cookies."

Getting out the white plate, your girlfriend eyed the pastries. Even as burnt in the corners and misshapen as they were, she warmly smiled at them. "How long did it take you to make them?"

"More than they should've," you admitted. "The longest part was molding them into stars. Well, that was the intention, but I think it's offensive to the stars if I call the cookies that."

Rosalina tried to hold a chuckle, although she wasn't completely successful. "What are you talking about? It's definitely... There."

"You don't have to lie, all I care about is how they taste. And I think they smell pretty good." You grabbed a couple, then offered one to her. "Cheers."

The princess took a bite first, taking in the flavor, and also tried to ignore the charred bits. "These are actually very nice," she mumbled with her mouth full.

"I knew that much vanilla extract was worth it!"

"How does it feel?"

The blanket felt cold against your skin, although not enough for you to wanting to put your coat on. You turned to Rosalina, awaiting her answer and lying your head over your arms.

Mostly startled by the sudden inquiry, she returned your gaze. "What do you mean?"

"You know... To be a literal space goddess." You grinned to yourself. "To be dating a human for some reason I still don't understand..."

The blonde was quick to interrupt you. "Well, I don't understand why you don't understand that I really, really like you."

Eyes glowing and heart swooning, you moved closer to her. "I don't, I guess. But I'm definitely not complaining at all either."

And as naturally as ever, Rosalina reached out to caress your cheek. "Can I kiss you?"

When was it that you fell so hard? "You don't have to ask."

"Of course I do," she lowered her hand to your chin and gently cupped it.

You closed your eyes, waiting for her to pull you closer. Her lips stroked yours, careful not to do anything too sloppy or sudden.

It was as if you were melting into her, your hands unconsciously traveling to her waist.

"Thank you for everything. Truly."

You faced your partner, who was cleaning her gown with her hands.

"It was my biggest pleasure," you replied, taking hold of the then empty picnic basket.

Grinning, she grabbed onto your free hand. "I had a great time."

"Same." You looked up to the stars one last time. "I kinda envy you. Well, not kinda, I really do envy you."

Curious, she raised her glance to whatever it was you were staring at. "What for?"

"You have all of this," you pointed to the sky. "You basically own it. And it's just so, so beautiful."

Rosalina shrugged, even if glad that you thought that way. "I love my Lumas, don't get me wrong, I wouldn't change them for the universe. But, I do miss human interactions, a lot."

"Well, I don't," you answered. "I'm kinda fed up of everyone by now."

Your girlfriend half smiled at your response. "I get that." She thought for a moment, then spoke again. "You should come by the observatory sometime, there's no one up there, and I could use the company."

"No one? At all?" You gasped. "Can I move in?"

A lighthearted chuckle escaped her lips. "I mean, if you really like it there, why not?"
