"You nervous?" Pablo said while walking right next to me, the wind sending a chill down my spine didn't help with the worry of completely embarrassing myself in front of everyone this morning.
I was hoping what happened last night between me, Matt, and Junior would just magically disappear I see both of them near Junior's Porshe watching a horse being trained out on the running track.
"No," I said while crossing my arms over my chest, the scarf I was wearing flapping away in the wind around my neck, "A little bit."
"It's just a normal farm." Pablo says while giving me a look, They're just a normal family."
"Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of." The dust from the ground kicked up when my boots continued to walk along with Pablo, "I've never met one of those before."
"Henry! Todd! This is Spencer Hastings. Coming to work for us. She'll be helping around the farm and will be helping me train the horses." Pablo gave me the full introduction to the two strangers in front of me.
"Do you know horses, Spencer?" I'm assuming the older man named Henry asked me while looking at me from the top of my head and down to my toes, "I'm learning. Pablo's been teaching me."
"Most she has learned by herself." Pablo mentions as Henry hums at his comment, "You think you could teach this horse to run between now and Sunday?"
My eyes worriedly wandered over to Matt as he just eased himself off the horse Henry was talking about, "He's joking."
"I am not," Henry said with a little attitude in his voice, "Let her have the reins, Matt."
Matt's eyes flashed between and Henry before Pablo spoke up, "Take him out slow. No real speed."
I nod silently as step over the white fence, taking the reins from with with a shy smile, "What's his name?"
"Oklahoma Crude," Matt says while rubbing the snout of the relaxed horse, "Oklahoma Crude, you're gonna do just fine."
I jump up on the saddle with the help of Matt boosting my leg up and settle myself upon Crude, "That's a good boy,"
I can feel Pablo's stare digging daggers into the back of my head as Crude starts trotting around, I settle him down and start him off on a light ride around the track. The wind blows through my hair like a fine comb as Crude decides to pick up his speed.
"Stealing off into the barn for a secret rendezvous?" Junior asks Matt as he starts walking up to him, "She's sweaty from pitching hay. The musky smell of horse manure in her hair."
"You're a bad man." Matt laughs at Junior's comments, "You don't understand the potential of the situation."
I continued to ride around the small track with Crude when the sound of a car honking filled my ears, "This should be interesting."
"What?" Matt said with a stern tone, "My sister finds out that a girl who looks like that is literally moving in with you?"
"I can't wait to see the look on Danielle's face." Junior said with a smirk resting on his face, "Dani and I are friends now, man."
"Uh-huh," He says while he watches his sister walk out of the car with a friend tagging along right behind her, "I mean, she's hanging out with that-that Mike guy, isn't she?"
"And look, you should be ecstatic that your best friend's not doing your sister." Matt said when the girls showed up right behind him, "We're going to the lake, wanna come?"
"Matt's way too busy." Junior teases, "He's got to break in his new horse trainer and ranch hand."
"There is just something about a girl on a horseback," Junior says as I continue to pick up speed while riding Crude, leaning forward to gain more momentum, "Matt, you are one lucky fella."
