The way my sweat-drenched shirt clung to me started to make my skin crawl. Not a single breeze was coming from any direction as Junior saddled the horses back up and he led us back to Davis Farms through the wild terrain.
We've only been at it for an hour or two and I was already exhausted, "Are you sure you know where we're going, Junior?"
Turning his head around to face me, he gave me a look of pain, "Are you starting to doubt me?" Tilting my head back at him he smirks, "Yeah, a little."
"Trust me, I know where I'm going." Junior continued forward up the steep hill as Breakaway followed behind him, "Me and Matt used to play out here all the time when we were kids, we didn't want to bring the horses out with us or we knew we would get in trouble. So we just walked all the way out here and back before my dad would find out."
"We shouldn't be too long now, right up here past this river, means we're getting closer to farmland." I nodded and pretended to be interested as Breakaway started to slow down.
"She can't handle this much longer," The scarring on her leg started to look inflamed, and I stopped us where we were. I took a piece of my shirt and ripped some of the cloth off, wrapping it around Breakaway's almost-healed stitching.
"It's okay, girl," I rubbed her head soothingly, "Hopefully that should hold you over until we reach the farm."
"Well it looks like it's your lucky day," Junior said while stopping his horse, "See those big willow trees near that land?"
"That's your house?" I didn't know if I should pinch myself to see if what I was looking at was real or not, but I did anyway, "Don't say it like that."
"Oh," I retort, "I'm most definitely going to say it like that." Junior slid off the saddle of his horse and took the reins of both horses, "Here's the plan."
"I'm going go to the farm and say that I was out looking for Breakaway because of what I saw on the news and that I found her. What you need to do it go find Matt, tell him the plan, and say that you've been out looking for Breakaway as well so no one will suspect you of stealing her."
"But people definitely saw me ride Breakaway away from that auction, and I'm sure Matt has been with Jean and Pablo this whole time. So how would being with Matt this whole time magically be possible." I try to explain the most defective fault in his plan but he dismisses me with a way of his hand, "Just trust me, okay?"
"For someone I barely know, I sure am trusting you a lot." My sarcasm slipped out and Junior rolled his eyes, "Go, before someone sees you." Giving one last look towards Breakaway and Junior I start heading in the other direction where I could see some backroads in the distance away from Davis Farms.
Stepping over sticks as they break underneath my feet I grab onto a couple of branches to help me not lose my footing and fall as I reached the backroads.

Junior's POV
"Come on, Breakaway. You'll see here soon." I could tell that she missed Spencer and she continued to neigh and thrash around here and there as we reached my father's farm.
"Oh, my god!" Dani said while jogging over to me as we reached the stables, "Where the hell have you been? And is that the horse that was stolen from the auction? Junior, you're in so much-"
"Dani, that last thing I need you to do is lecture me, okay?" My tone came out sharp and her eyes widened at me in shock, "Look, I'm sorry, but I really need to get going."
