TW: SELF-HARM

Surprisingly, the blade slicing his pale skin didn't hurt the most. It wasn't the words plaguing his mind either. They were right; he was alone and no one would convince him otherwise. No one would ever bother to tell him otherwise, whether wholeheartedly or for the sake of kindness, and that was what hurt the most. For that reason, he was truly alone, as he should be, Kaveh believed. He got his father killed; he broke his mother; and burdened all his "friends" with his very existence. Loneliness was the least he deserved, and death would only be an escape from his punishment.

Droplets of blood dripped from the freshly made cuts, staining his clothes.

"Shit, I went too deep again... It's fine as long as I don't die," Kaveh mumbled to himself, glancing at the clock on his wall. "Alhaitham should be home soon; guess I should clean up."

The front door opened and closed, followed by footsteps and Alhaitham's voice. "Kaveh, did you get the groceries?"

"Uhh, no. I-I'll get them, though," Kaveh yelled, wrapping a bandage to hold a cloth onto his cuts and hurriedly hiding his blade.

"It's fine. I'll get them," Alhaitham grumbled, somehow already behind Kaveh's door.

"Gah! Ow! I'll get the groceries!" Kaveh exclaimed, dropping his blade.

"I said it's fine; it'll just be another loan. By the way, are you alright in there?"

"Uh- yep, I'm fine, just dropped something. Don't worry about it. Get the groceries!" Kaveh lied, grabbing his blade and stashing it under his bed.

"Haa... Kaveh, I know when you're lying. Tell me what's going on or I will knock this door down and add the repair cost to your rent."

"Nothing! Mind your damn business! You're great at that!"

"What the hell is this about? Just open the fucking door!"

"I said it was nothing! FUCK OFF!"

"I told you not to swear in my house."

"You do the same thing! Besides, I'm your senior!"

"Senior my ass. This is my house; open the door."

Kaveh grumbled, "Fine," and opened his door, hiding his arm behind his back.

Alhaitham quickly snatched Kaveh's wrist, immediately noticing the unusually thick sleeve squeezing his forearm. Alhaitham dragged Kaveh to the bed, forcing him to sit.

"How long ago?" Alhaitham asked softly, rolling up Kaveh's sleeve to expose a bloody rag hidden under a loosely tied bandage. Alhaitham held down the rag.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?!" Kaveh yelled.

"Saving your ass! This bandage isn't putting nearly enough pressure to stop the bleeding."

"Stop it! Shut up! Stop acting; I don't need your fucking pity! There's no way in hell you give a damn if I live! You'd sooner kill the Traveler than care about me!" Kaveh yelled, clenching his fists, tears rolling down his pale cheeks.

Alhaitham didn't speak, his free hand moving silently; wiping the blonde's tears. Kaveh stared at him, struggling to read the scribe.

"Why are you so quiet? Say something, dammit!"

Alhaitham lifted the rag to find that the bleeding had stopped, then proceeded to carefully wrap Kaveh's arm.
