In the living room, Jisung was quietly playing with his toys, trying to distract himself from the dread that hung in the air. He was used to this—too used to it for a child of eight. The bruises and cuts were a part of his life now.

The front door slammed open, and Jin stumbled in, his eyes glazed over and a half-empty bottle of Golden Grain clutched in his hand. Tzuyu's heart sank. He was home earlier than usual, and drunk. The worst combination.

"Jisung!" Jin's voice was a drunken roar, filled with anger and resentment. "Get your ass over here!"

Jisung's small body tensed, and he looked to his mother with pleading eyes. Tzuyu stood up, her hands raised in a placating gesture. "Jin, please, he's just a child. Let him be."

But Jin was beyond reason. He crossed the room in a few staggering steps and grabbed Jisung by the collar, lifting him off the ground. "You think you can ignore me, Huh? You little fuc-"

"Jin, stop!" Tzuyu screamed, rushing to her son's side. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she tried to pull Jin away, but he shoved her with such force that she fell to the floor.

"You fucking ungrateful piece of shit," Jin spat, his face inches from Jisung's. "I wish Tzuyu didn't fucking birth you and got an abortion like I fucking told her."

Jisung's eyes filled with tears, his small hands clawing at his father's arm as he struggled to breathe. "da-dad!! Sto-..." he choked out, but Jin's hand tightened around his throat, cutting off his words. The boy gagged loudly, his face turning red.

Tzuyu got to her feet, desperation giving her strength. She lunged at Jin, her hands beating against his back. "Please, Jin, you're killing him! Let him go!"

"fuck this kid!" Jin screamed, his rage boiling over. He released his grip on Jisung's throat only to kick him viciously in the stomach. Jisung crumpled to the floor, gasping for air and writhing in pain.

Jin stormed out of the house, the bottle still in his hand. The door slammed behind him, and the house fell silent except for Jisung's sobs and Tzuyu's heavy breathing.

And that's Jisung's childhood.
