The next morning, Jisung woke up to the soft glow of the morning sun filtering through his window. He stretched his arms above his head, feeling the slight pangs of hunger that had become all too familiar. Skipping breakfast had become a habit he didn't think twice about anymore. He quickly got dressed, pulling on his school uniform with practiced ease, and headed downstairs.
His mother was in the kitchen, sipping her coffee as she glanced at the clock. "Morning, sweetie. Ready for school?" she asked with a warm smile.
Jisung nodded, grabbing his backpack. "Yeah, Mom. Thanks for driving me."
She nodded, gathering her things. "It's no problem. I'm glad you're settling in. How are things at school?"
Jisung thought about his friends and the new city. "It's good, actually. I feel pretty safe here."
His mother smiled, clearly relieved. "That's great to hear. Let's get going then."
The drive to school was uneventful, the morning traffic moving smoothly. Jisung stared out the window, taking in the familiar sights of the new city that had surprisingly grown on him. It was still strange to think of it as home, but he couldn't deny the sense of belonging he felt.
As they pulled up to the school, Jisung thanked his mom and stepped out of the car. He walked through the school gates, the buzz of students filling the air. Just as he entered the building, he saw Felix barreling toward him.
"Jisung!! Oh my god, you won't believe what happened!" Felix exclaimed, enveloping Jisung in a tight hug.
"Ou-!" Jisung winced, feeling a sharp pain shoot through his skin. Felix immediately pulled back, concern etched on his face.
"Oh, I'm so sorry! Are you okay?"
Jisung forced a smile. "Yeah, I'm fine. Don't worry about it."
Before Felix could probe further, Chan and Minho approached them. Felix quickly pulled Chan into a hug, but his mind was still on Jisung's reaction.
Felix's eyes darted back to Jisung, worry creeping into his thoughts
Why did he seem like he was in pain?
Was he?
Was someone hurting him?
Was he hurting himself?
no, he couldn't...
"Hey, mate!" Chan greeted, patting Felix on the back.
Minho's greeting was less enthusiastic. "Hey," he said, his voice carrying a hint of coldness. This was typical Minho behavior, but Felix couldn't shake his concern.
Minho's eyes lingered on Jisung, observing him closely. His gaze traveled from Jisung's waist to his lips, and then to his adorably puffy cheeks. Minho's thoughts wandered to a place they shouldn't, imagining Jisung laid out on his bed, whimpering in pain as Minho was on top of him doing-
He was snapped back to reality by the ringing bell.
"Okay, see you later!" Felix exclaimed, walking away with Chan, leaving Jisung and Minho alone.
"What class do you have?" Minho asked.
Jisung stammered, his mind going blank. "Oh- uh-uhm... I have so-social studies. What about you?"
"Me too," Minho replied with a smirk. "Looks like we have the same timetable."
They walked side by side toward their classroom. Jisung's mind was racing. "Minho," he began hesitantly.
"Mh?"
"What changed?"
"What do you mean?"
"I know I asked you this already, but be honest with me. Why are you nice to me now?"
Minho couldn't reveal the truth.
He couldn't.
"Well, I noticed I might have hurt you and your feelings sometimes, so I decided to be somewhat nicer to you," he lied, though it wasn't entirely untrue.
Jisung looked relieved, if not entirely convinced. "Th-thank you."
"No problem. Why did you move here anyway?"
"My mother got accepted to a job in this city, so we moved here."
"Just the two of you?"
Jisung looked down, biting his lip. "Yeah, just the two of us."
"Cool," Minho said, though he felt a pang of sympathy for Jisung.
As they reached the classroom, Minho opened the door for Jisung, watching him walk in. There was something about Jisung that drew Minho in, something he couldn't quite put into words. He followed Jisung into the classroom.
——— (Couldn't center this sorry)
Minho and Jisung went about their day, each moment drawing them slightly closer. They exchanged smiles and engaged in small talk between classes, their conversations gradually revealing bits and pieces of their lives. Jisung learned that Minho had a soft spot for stray animals, often sneaking food to the neighborhood cats. Minho discovered that Jisung had a passion for music, often losing himself in the rhythms and melodies he created on his own.
As school wrapped up, Jisung gathered his things and prepared to walk home. He stepped out of the building, the late afternoon sun casting long shadows on the ground. He waved goodbye to seungmin and Felix , who were heading off to their after-school activities.
"Ya, Jisung!" a familiar voice called out, catching his attention.
Jisung turned around to see Minho jogging over to him, a slight sheen of sweat on his forehead. "Oh- Minho?" Jisung said, clearly surprised. He hadn't expected Minho to seek him out after school.
"Yeah," Minho replied, a casual smile on his face. "Wanna come over to my house? So we could like, hang out, you know?"
