Adelaide woke the next morning to knocking at her apartment door. It was 6:15 which meant her alarm would be going off in any second. Quickly she picked her phone up, turned the alarm off and then headed to answer the door, before unlocking and opening the door Adelaide looked through the peephole and saw a familiar redhead, her brothers Ex-Wife Addison Montgomery. Addison was like another older sister but one she knew she could always talk to like Amelia. The brunette woman rolled her eyes knowing what was coming, Derek had probably called Amelia and Addison to come and talk to her but she would have thought he would have went to Amelia first. Grabbing her door keys from the hook beside the door she unlocked the door and opened it.
"Addie, what are you doing here?" Adelaide asked the older woman.
"What no hello, no hug." Smirked Addison which made Adelaide rolled her eyes and tried to hide the fact she was trying not to laugh.
"Sorry, Hi Addie" She said as she gave a hug to the redhead with a smile.
"What are you doing here at 6:15? I have to get ready for work" Adelaide asked Addison even though she already knew the answer to that.
"Derek wants me to try and talk to you, he said something about a baby and you not talking to anyone about it" Addison explained, Adelaide stepped aside to let the redhead into her apartment.
"I would have thought he would have asked Lia to come see me" Adelaide joked trying to avoid the conversation about her son.
"He did but she had a patient, she's going to be flying out later today. But enough changing subjects I want to hear your story not Derek's version of it" Addison said.
"I don't have time Addie. I have to get ready for work, I'm already on scut for a month, I don't fancy it being for longer" Adelaide rolled her eyes.
"I have time, I can wait and we can talk on the way to the hospital" Addison said, she wasn't going to let the brunette woman get out of talking about this.
"Fine, make yourself at home" Adelaide sighed running a hand through her tangled hair. She headed into her room and shut the door leaning against it and resting her head against the door too. She was so tired of being questioned by everyone about her son.
"Do you want a drink?" Addison called through the shut door to, Adelaide responded with a coffee and then opened her wardrobe pulling out some jeans, a simple tank top and a hoodie before moving on to her underwear which she threw onto her bed. Mentally Adelaide was trying to think of what to say to Addison and how to answer all the questions. Trying to put of talking to Addison Adelaide took her time to change until she couldn't put it off any longer.
"Thanks Addie" Adelaide said thanking her for the coffee.
"I know you have loads of questions. Everyone does but I don't want to talk about it. I don't want to talk about any of it. I told Derek that it's not like I sold the baby on the black market. The baby was healthy when I had him and that's all that matters. I did what was best for him and me" Adelaide complained feeling herself getting stressed from the constant reminders of the baby, of her son.
"I get that Adelaide but you've kept it to yourself for what 12, 13 years, it's got to be taking a toll on you" Addison said, it was true Adelaide did feel like it was taking its toll on her but she already knew she was going to be a disappointment to her mother when she finds out the whole truth but she didn't know what else to do, keeping it to herself was the best thing to do.
"Trust me Addie, I never wanted anyone to find out about that boy, he deserved to have parents who would love him and give him the life he needed not me. If I kept him I would have resented him so I did the only right thing to do and gave him up. Why can't my family see that. Would they have wanted me to resent my own child? No I highly doubt they would have" Adelaide told Addison who just listened.
